The Kawartha Conservation- ist Award is given to an individ- ual or group of individuals who have made a significant contri- bution to conservation within the Kawartha Region wa- tershed which includes most of Victoria County, the northern parts of Durham Region, and northwest sections of Peterbo- rough County. It consists of a loon statue onto which the re- cipient's name is engraved, and a framed print. Examples of significant con- tributions are: implementing conservation farming tech- niques, protecting natural are- as, reforestation of land to pre- vent erosion, and organizing community involvement in con- servation. The candidates should also exemplify a life-long commitment to the wise use of natural resources. The nominations for the award must be submitted in writing and include: the indi- vidual's name, occupation, resi- dent address, a description of interests related to natural re- sources, and achievements in the area of conservation and natural resource management within the Kawartha Region watershed. All nominations must be re- ceived by the Kawartha Region' Conservation Authority, R.R. 1, Kenrei Park Road, Lindsay, On- tario, K9V 4R1, no later than Friday, Nov. 11,1994.
