They earned their first point with a tie against Vaughan. The 0-0 score was Mark Carnaghan and Leo Taillon's first well- deserved shutout which they proudly shared with the entire team. Compton Cable reduced their shots-against average with great backchecking by Derek Goreski, Ashley Lucas, and Nel- son Langmaid. A game moment goes out to Taylor Churchill's puck-clearing off the goal line. Offensively, Kyle Mullins, Ty- son Savage and Michael Lycett * provided exciting opportunities for goal scoring. : The next evening, Sunday Nov. 13, the Compton Cable gang were on the road to face Bradford. An exciting match en- sued with Bradford pulling away with a 2-0 lead. Compton Cable bounced back with goals from Ashley Lucas, assists by Kyle Mullins and Shane Jef- frey, and from Keenan Geer, as- sists to Cassidy Weber and Der- league action Whitby Auto squeaked out a 3-2 win over Laurentian Bank in a close checking contest. Mathew Smart opened the # coring for Whitby on a setup by John-Ross Lennox. Laurentian fought back with a goal by Chris Glouster assisted by Ryan May and Stormy Wootton. Whitby regained the lead on a back- hand by John-Ross Lennox, as- sists going to Joseph Farquhar- son and Mathew Smart. Again, Laurentian tied the game on an "unassisted effort by Stormy Wootton. The Autowreckers got the winner when Lennox set up Cameron MacDonald in the third period. Whitby's defence of Jeff Kane, Matt Fraser, Ste- phan Senyk and John-Ross Lennox played a strong game, stopping several breakaways by = . 'Laurentian. Honorable mention goes out to Jeff Tomcheski's persistent checking and hard work in the corners. Legionnaires action The bench looked a little bare Friday night at the Scu- gog Arena. The Legionnaires were missing Brad Johnston and Chad Lance. The first period was action-packed with lots of end-to-end skat- ing, solid checking and wide open play. Port had two pen- alties in the first period and Belleville had one. The second period tipped the scales in favor of the visi- tors when the locals ended up with four penalties. Mike MacLennan was doing a great job of goaltending but at 11:42 Belleville scored on a deflection off the post. Port managed to keep them off scored from the slot. the scoreboard again until the 4:45 mark, when short- handed again, Belleville In the third, Bart Monsma took over the goal. One more penalty for Port in the third and four more goals for Belle- ville made it a lohg game. Port had one goal in the third from Steve Wygerde, assist- ed by Greg Bruton. The final score was 6-1, but it was no indication of the effort put forth by the Le- gionnaires. The boys skated hard but you can't make up the difference in the penalty box. Port spent a total of 14 minutes there while Belle- ville had only two. The Pearce Auctioneers squad met Uxbridge last Friday night for the first time in the se- ries. The first period saw end- to-end action as our defence- men of Justin Koury, Gordon Smith, Justin Shinn and Ryan Hnatko kept our end clear and the Uxbridge team working hard. Curtis Wagar made some ex- cellent saves and cleared the crease. The second period saw our forwards of Kevin Robins, ~ Atom house Auctioneers lose to Bruins Teddy Howarth, Joey Lane, Jor- dan Froats, Chet Martin, Pat Lewis, Lucas Fraser, Tyler Weisflock try to put some past the Uxbridge net with no luck. With only a minute left in the second period, Uxbridge scored. In the third period, Scott Honey worked hard in net, but Uxbridge turned up the heat to score two more markers. The Pearce Auctioneers are all play- ing some really great hockey, keep up the good work, guys!
