Lg BE Eo Th Ty "A Family Tradition for 128 Years" BM Ll. te MO RSTRNT a The weekend's snow brought out snowmobile thieves, according to Durham Regional Police, who reported two incidents in the area. Sunday night (Dec. 11) just before 10 p.m. a man living on Williams Point Rd. Caesarea heard a rie being start and looked out to see three people on his prop- erty, police said. The man pursued thieves, who took off on his Arctic Cat machine. They got about 100 feet before they stalled the snowmobile, and then took off on foot, police said. Durham officers responded and followed a trail of foot- prints, but lost track of the thieves. And Saturday (Dec. 10) a man cutting wood about a mile west of Blackstock came across a snow machine that was con- cealed in the bush, police said. Investigation showed the snowmobile had been stolen from a Blackstock residence a few days prior to its discovery. Accident reports Police are reporting a rash of accidents after heavy snow struck the area over the week- end. Police reported seven acci- dents -- one on Friday, four on Police Report Saturday, and two on Sunday -- throughout the area, most of them attributed to road con- ditions. None involved serious injuries, police said. Police were also called to Scugog Island last Wednesday morning (Dec. 7) to investigate an accident that left a local man with minor injuries. Police said the 18-year-old driver, a Fralick's Beach Rd. resident, lost control of his vehicle on Island Rd. around Pine Point Rd. around 7 a.m. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled, then hit a tree, police said. The driver was treated at Community Memorial Hospital. Car stolen Police are investigating the theft of a car from Caesarea overnight Sunday. Monday morning (Dec. 12) police were called to investi- gate the theft of a 93 Chrysler Dynasty from Coleman Crescent. Shortly after that they got a call from two Manilla resi- dents, who found a car aban- doned on View Lake Rd. near Durham Rd. 57. The car had been stolen in Milton Nov. 29, police said. Snowmobile thefts reported in area Contents of the Caesarea man's car were spread around on the roadway in the vicinity of the stolen car. Youths charged Two young offenders have been charged in connection with the theft of a van from a Caesarea home. Police made the arrests last week after the incident, which occurred the weekend of Nov. 25 at a Cedar Grove Rd. home. The two youths, a boy and a girl, have been charged with break and enter. Police are also investigating another break-in at the Cango gas bar on Simcoe Rd. in the ridges. Thieves kicked in the door of the kiosk sometime last Thursday night (Dec. 8) and made off with a quantity of cigarettes, police said. Thefts reported Four antique fire extin- guishers and two copper boil- ers were stolen from the lawn of a home on Hwy 12 the evening of Dec. 7, police report. Police also investigated the theft of three cords of firewood from a Devitts Rd. home the night of the 6th.
