While warm weather shut down the event in January, there was plenty of arctic air to keep the sculptures in form this past weekend. Youth group hosts spaghetti supper How observant are you? Did you see the "photograph of the week" in the Weekend Star. Look at it closely and you will see it has been taken from the lane area of Belvue Farm look- ing north east. It so often takes the lens of someone's camera to show us a beautiful scene like this one. Congratulations to our Church Youth Group on an- other successful Spaghetti Sup- per on Sunday evening. These young people do an excellent job of making sure you have all you need while others in the kitchen with their leaders keep the pots boiling and the garlic toast but- tered and hot. This group spon- sors a child, gives to the W.W.F. and Child Find, and we wish them success in all they do. I heard through the grape- vine this week that Armour McMillan has been re-elected for the second year to the job of president of the Villa in Port Perry. His experience gained from his work with the Depart- ment of Agriculture and his church in Greenbank will make him a great president. Hard work earned Janet Congratulations to Janet Vernon who was presented with an award from the Port Perry Fair Board for her many years of service and hard work. If it wasn't for people like this who volunteer their time all year round, there wouldn't be a fair for everyone to enjoy. Janet will be attending the fair convention in Toronto this week. Merv and Ilean Pugh visited in Trout Creek last weekend with their son Ivan and Linda and granddaughter Cassandra. The weekly euchre was held on Thursday evening with 13 tables. This team won the gold in the Port Perry Tournament in January, all but one of their regular league games and now in February the gold medals in Kingston. Way to go girls!! Everyone is pleased to hear that Ellsworth Kennedy is re- covering so well following heart surgery. Jes- sie Nobbs and Fred Puckrin played three hymns on their harmonicas; "Sweet hour of Prayer", "In the Sweet By and By" and Saviour Teach me Day by Day". They were accompa- nied by Fern Tobin on the piano. Next Sunday is Baden Powell and Thinking Day when the Scouting and Guiding Groups will worship with the congrega- tion.
