Joanna Kittle, marketing program coordinator for the Foundation, accepted a check last Wednesday (April 5) from student organizer Mike Leach and Principal Leo Plue. Give generously to Cancer fund Seagrave by Ann SE 1[e [i {e] (0) Local residents are remind- ed that April is Cancer Month and please be generous with your cash gift when one of your neighbors knocks on your door for a donation. We are still in need of volunteers. If you can help out for this worthy cause, please call Doris Taylor, our local convenor, at 985-7410. Robinglade Estates Women's Group: there is a change in the April meeting. The meeting is now April 12 not April 5 and the meeting will be held at Debbie Slute's home. Attention parents, in September there will be a 'Sparks group, ages five-six, Brownies ages seven and eight, and Guides ages nine, 10 and 11, in Seagrave. On Saturday, May 13, these groups will be having a yard/bake sale to help offset operating costs. Anyone having a daughter wishing to join one of these groups or arti- cles they wish to donate, call Sandra Wickens 985-0455. Please remember the annual Robinglade yard sale. This year it has been decided to col- lect your "loonie" ahead of time for advertising, etc. If you are planning to participate in this neighborhood yard sale, please call Tracey Evans at 985-9083 so we can have an idea of how many homes will participate. On Apri] 4 at 12:30 p.m. the W.I. met in the United Church Blue Room for the pot luck lun- cheon and annual meeting. Thirteen members and one vis- itor were present. Following the delicious meal, president after which the minutes, trea- surer's report and correspon- dence were all read. On April 21, Education Da will be held at Nestleton Hall with registration beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $3 and bring your bag lunch. Speakers for the day will be Kathleen Petrie on gardening in the morning | Blackstock WI meets Pat Sleep welcomed everyone, and in the afternoon, Dr. Hock of Bowmanville on nourishing the whole body. (Dress - casual). Dates announced were May 4 - Honeydale anniversary, District Annual - May 16 at Hampton. Jean Adams gave an excel- lent Program Co-ordinator Report which will be sent on to the District Co-ordinator. One hundred and five people registered for the aerobic exer- cise classes which have started on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights in both Blackstock and Nestleton. Seagrave Church News Another reminder of the Seagrave Church Annual Beef Dinner Wednesday, April 19. Sittings are at 4:45, 6 and 7:15 p.m. Please call Len Somerville at 985-8066 or Fred Puckrin at 985-2627. Amanda Hill read the Palm Sunday story to begin the church service this past Sunday. The Hill family extinguished the sixth Lenten candle on Sunday. The whole People of God theme - to "Experience the Events of Holy Week" was given by Vanessa Rose and the choir sang "Hosanna to Jesus". The Good Friday service April 14 at 8 p.m. will be at Pinedale Church. The Easter sunrise service presented by the Youth Group will be held at 6:30 a.m. at the Greenbank Cemetery. The Seagrave Easter Sunday service will be at the usual 9:30 a.m. time when the Pinedale choir will join with the Seagrave choir. There will be a "work day" at the Seagrave Church this Saturday, April 156 at 9 a.m. We would appreciate the assis- tance of any men or women who could help prepare the church for the "Beef Supper". The choirs of Pinedale and Seagrave Church invite you to join with them as they present "Spring Melodies" an evening of music and fellowship. This will be presented in the Seagrave Church on Sunday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. That's it for this week. Scugog Island Women's Institute The Scugog Island Women's Institute will meet on Wednesday, April 19 at 8 p.m. at the Island Hall. Please bring an article for the auction. This is also the Annual Meeting so annual reports are due as well as payment of dues. Scugog Island United Church On Sunday morning, the church was filled with beautiful Palm Sunday music. Special thanks to the orchestra mem- bers for their uplifting music. Bonnie Bell, Carol Edgar, Bob Cawker, Doreen Adam, Joanne Yourkevich, Edna Beckett, Doug Barber, Nicole and Yvette Hamelinck make up our tal- ented orchestra. Wayne Wanamaker sang a beautiful solo called "Jerusalem" and 'the choir sang a moving anthem called "On the Highway to Jerusalem". Sandy Barrass and Tiffany Holme extin- guished the sixth candle reflecting upon our lack of com- mitment. A warm invitation is extend- ed to you to join us for the remaining Easter services. Our Good Friday service will be held on Friday, April 14 at Manchester United Church at 7 p.m. Special music by Janice Groves, Audrey Beauchamp, Doug Barber, Evelyn McKenzie and the Scugog Island United Church choir. The Easter Sunrise Service will b:: held on Sunday, April 16 at 6 a.m. at Scugog Island United Church. Special music by Nicole Hamelinck. There will be breakfast for those attending. The Easter Sunday sey- vice will be held at our regular time of 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 16 at S.I.U.C. Special music by our orchestra, choir, Michael Barber and Michelle Berting. If you would like to shed a few pounds, join us beytween 9 and 10 a.m. on weekday morn- ings for a morning walk. The Moms and Tots continue to meet on Monday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at S.1.U.C. They will be holding their first fundraiser event on Saturday, April 20 - "Kids Only Clothing Club" Spring and Summer Fashions Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at S.1.U.C. Children welcome! Junior choir practice will be held again on Friday, April 21 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Children Grades 1 and up are welcome. Don't forget to mark Saturday, April 22 on your cal- endar. It will be a busy day for our UCW groups. The Grace UCW will be holding their Hot Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scugog Island United Church. The Head UCW will be holding their Spring '95 Cookin' and Craft Sale from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Island Hall. Free admission! There will be a display of old quilts and demonstrations involving woodwork, t-shirt art, bunka, etc, The Worship and Music Committee will meet on Monday, April 24 at 1:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. The Stewards will meet on Wednesday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. The Worship and Music Committee of the Pastoral Charge will be sponsoring a Musicale on Saturday, May 6 at S.I.LU.C. at 7:30 p.m. Come out and have a fun evening and enjoy the talents of Scugog Island and Manchester.
