Borelians, Choral Society winners at Act-Co awards Scugog's theatre groups, the Borelians and Scugog Choral Society, were honored at the 19th Annual ACT-CO Awards Gala last Saturday eve- ning, with each group re- ceiving one Thea and three other nominations. Scugog Choral Society's "Mame" won for best com- munity involvement, while nominations went to Barb Taylor-Bone for most successful debut (as choreographer), Tom Mil- lar for best musical direc- tor, and Michele Jones for best supporting female in amusical. The Borelians' "Open- ing Night" stage crew won Port Perry Seniors for best technical achieve- ment in comedy, nomina- tions went to Lynn and Gary Relf for best lighting design in a comedy, Bunty Webb for best supporting female in a drama (Shad- ow Walkers) and the pro- duction of "Opening Night" for an Adjudicators Award. Easter is theme at meeting by N. R. Caswell Easter with its eggs and baskets was the theme for our meetingon April 12. After a welcome by Bob Davidge and registration with Doris Redmond, all members joined in singing our national anthem ac- companied by Edna Beck- ett on the piano. A short business meeting fol- lowed, with the business from previous meetings read by Jean Sparrow. Correspondence was presen by Stan Rick- ard and the financial re- port was given by Vic Sparrow. Tour organizer Jacklyn Kerr reported on a variety of trips that are available to us and with deadlines approaching on some of the trips, registration A.S.A.P.is a must. We were informed by Jack Bentley that a sys- tem to combat auto theft will be available. The nec- essary forms should be available at the next meetingin April. A bus load of seniors, in- cluding our choir, will be guests of the Uxbridge Seniors, at their hall on April 18. Don Geer called the numbers for the bingo that followed the meeting. The winners were reward- ed with some nice prizes. Following the bingo, a tasty snack was served to all present. Our thanks to the kitchen staff and all who assist at these meet- ings.
