Representatives from across Ontario attend this yearly event and take part in the weekend's festivi- ties. I might add that Port Perry was repre- sented by 14 voting dele- gates, by far the largest group present at this meeting. Saturday evening, 220 delegates attended the dinner and awards ban- quet. The master of cere- monies for the evening was Port Perry resident Wally Donaldson. Head table guests also included Mayors Howard Hall and Nancy Diamond «of Oshawa. During the eve- ning, over 150 door prizes were handed out to all of those attending, which helped to defer costs of _ hosting such an event. This new league will be comprised of teams from Scugog, Manvers, Burketon, Brock and Uxbridge. This move was necessary due to field availability and the large number of teams playing out of the Scugog Soccer facility this year. If projections are correct there will be somewhere between 700 and 800 - players signed by the Scugog organiza- tion for the coming year. Referee News for '95 - A referee clinic will be conducted by the Durham Referee Association at the St. John's Training School in Uxbridge on April 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (This is a free of charge introductory seminar for new referees). The Scugog Referee Co-ordinator is planning a sup- plemental training session for all Scu- gog referees. A level III referee clinic is tentatively being planned for the 1996 season due to the increased number of referees in the organization. Club all set for new season The Port Perry Tennis Club is set to roll into an- other action-packed sea- son. The lifetime sport of tennis is a great recrea- tion for the whole family. Lessons for adults and juniors begin on May 9 and run for six weeks. The cost is $40 per member. At the conclusion of the les- son program, there are weekly beginner and in- termediate house leagues with organized play in which to practice new skills. Signup for membership and lessons is at the A.G.M. April 20 or at the courts on Friday, April 28, 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 29, 9 to 11 a.m. See ad elsewhere in the paper. The club professional this year is a young man by the name of Mike euber, a Level I coach, certified by the Ontario Tennis Assoc. He looks forward to working for and with the club. The popular young peo- ples' summer program at "camp" begins on July 10 and runs to July 28, week- days from 9 a.m. to noon for three weeks. This camp has been running successfully for 16 years. Inter-club leagues, house leagues, fun days, ladies, junior, senior orga- nized play and tourna- ment competition, are all part of the easy going club atmosphere. There is also plenty of free court time for practice and play to be enjoyed at the courts by the lake. For further information call 9865-8948.
