The late-night break- in occurred sometime after midnight May 7, and nursing home employees are in shock. Edna Goss, nursing home director, arrived at her office 7 a.m. Monday morning only to find one of her windows open and the cash raised at last weekend's charity bazaar missing. The annual fundraiser is held to raise money for nursing home resident activities. But thieves have jeopardized planned trips and needed supplies by stealing the money. "We'll see that they have enough to keep going, but I don't know how right now," an emo- tional Mrs. Goss said Monday . "(Thieves) never think about what the money is going to be used for or who is going to be hurt," she said. The small window faces a well lit courtyard, but a corner of the building may have allowed the thieves some amount of cover before attempting the break-in. The investigation con- tinues. It's not known how much cash was stolen from the office, but it can- not be replaced because cash isn't insured at the facility. Mrs. Goss and her staff were left saddened by the occurrence. "We've been having the bazaar for 20 years and this has never happened before," she said. She added that the bazaar, one of the two big events the nursing home holds to raise money each year, is very important for the residents. "This is their main fundraiser and they worked so hard for weeks," she said. "It's expensive keeping the activity program going." Building a house, garage or bam. Renovating your kitchen/bathroom.
