The three reg- ulation courts are located adjacent to the main en- trance to the Athletic' Complex and just south of the outdoor tennis facili- ties. The sport of Beach Vol- leyball has grown at a rap- id pace over the last num- ber of years and will be a trial sport at the 1996 Summer Olympics in At- lanta. This overall growth Region are predominantly located at Lakeview Park, so we thought locating three top flight beach courts on campus would definitely be popular," stated Assistant Athletic Director Ken Babcock. The sand courts idea, which received great sup- port from Athletic Direc- tor Dave Stewart, will be co-ordinated by Lords Men's Volleyball Head Coach Laurence Bishop. Organized Beach Volley- ball Leagues will include Competitive and Recrea- tional 4s and 2s in a varie- 1s the basis for building the sand courts. On May 19, 1995, drivers will again | take to the challenging circuit in pursuit |; of the elusive flag as Mosport begins the | celebration of its 35th anniversary. Headlining the Victoria Day Mosport 200 Weekend will be the long-running SCCA Trans-Am series, showcasingsuch driving stars as Mississauga's Ron Fellows and former champion Tommy Kendall. Fellows, who has finished the past two seasons as runner-up in the series points chase, has left the tamiliarity of Tom Gloy's Ford team to join with the highly successful Bowtie Brigade of Buzz McCall. The Camaros of McCall Racing have claimed the last four series championships and although Fellows admits that it wasn't easy leaving the Ford camp, "The chance to drive for a great team with strong factory support was just too inviting." The 40 lap Trans-Am feature will run on Sunday afternoon, May 21. Filling out the racing card will be the Formula 1600 and F-2000 cars, an Enduroseries marathon, and a race for the World Challenge sedans. Two wheeled action takes over the track on holiday Mgnday as the Superbikes and their motorcycle cousins are featured. But the weekend's entertainment won't be restricted to the twisting asphalt circuit. The popular Mosport MotoMart will once again be operating in the infield. Auto enthusiasts can find an unbelievable selection of displays and vendors catering to their motorsport fancies and fantasies. And at the end of a hard day of shopping and race- watching, settle down for a relaxing evening of New Country music. Concerts will be staged on Saturday and Sunday nights with the lovely and talented Patricia Conroy headlining the six featured bands. A couple of quick notes to finish: Tim "the Tool Man and Race Fan" Allen has joined forces with car builder Steve Saleen and plans to run several selected events in the Saleen Racing Mustang. Although not on Mosport's entry list, it is rumored that he will be at the track as an interested spectator. Stock Car fans should also note that for the Victoria Day Weekend only, action at the Mosport oval will be run on the Holiday Monday. There will be no racing on Sturday night but fans can enjoy a full schedule of ThunderCar, Street Stock and Sportsman action as well as a 50 lap invitational for the Mosport Modifieds startin at 1 p.m. Monday, May 22. You may have noticed an error in our last report, but please be assured that the Mosport Speedway schedule will be a full 20 weeks long, not 12, as we mentioned previously. \_ See you then....From Corner Five....
