On Saturday af- ternoon, May 20, Cecil and Marie Gibson will be guests of honor at an Open House to celebrate their golden wedding anniver- sary. This will be held at the CE Room of the United Church. On Sunday after- noon, Helen and Stuart Dorrell will be holding an Open House in celebration of their 40th wedding an- niversary. Congratula- tions to all of you. Quite a number of local residents attended the im- pressive opening of the Stephen B. Roman wing of the Community Memorial Hospital, Port Perry on Friday afternoon. Many enjoyed tours of the hospi- tal where the many reno- vations were shown by the guides. Many dignitaries, including Premier Bob Rae, were present for this very special occasion. The ONO (Our Night Out) Club met at the home of Kathleen Dorrell on Wednesday evening. Pres- ident Berta Avery remind- ed us that we need old pic- tures for our 45th anniver- sary on Oct. 14 at the Rec Centre. Secretary Aileen VanCamp read the min- utes and treasurer Sandra Hoskin gave her report. On Thursday, May 25 from 7 to 9 p.m., the spring music concert will be held at the Cartwright Central Public School. This concert will feature all of the various music groups and ensembles and 1s presented in honor of longtime Durham Board of Education Trustee Joyce Kelly. On Saturday, May 27, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the annual Yard Sale will be held to raise funds for school ac- tivities. A Spring Tea on Tues- day, May 30, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. will be held for senior citizens. Please register at the school by May 26. On Thursday, the regu- lar Fair Board meeting was held when plans for the Tractor and Truck Pull on July 7 and 8 were worked on. Many aspects of the fair were discussed. The Beach Party this year will be Saturday, July 29. Members were added to thisbusy committee. The highlight of the meeting was the report of the Secretary Search Committee. John Dodds, a resident at Community Nursing Home, received a gift from his friends at the Sir Edward Carson Lodge #7, the sons and daughters of Ireland.
