Jennifer Morden, a stu- dent at the local school, approached council ask- ing for its help in a solu- tion to parking problems at thelocal high school. There is no desig- nated smoking area at the school. Miss Morten told coun- cil she understands the residents' complaints and sympathizes with them, but says the students have no choice but to park where they do. She was asking council to come up with a solution. Council told Miss Mort- "-- \ ol en that the problem is one that falls under the Dur- ham Board of Education's responsibility and the township has met with school officials to try to find a solution. Currently the school is some 56 parking spaces short of the requirements and council is suggesting the current system for paid parking being elimi- nated. Teachers and co-op stu- dents receive priority for the spots, which are often open for most part of the day, but are off limits to all other vehicles.
