The local squad got even as they emerged victorious with an 11-4 win. Chris Jones pitched the full seven in- nings allowing one walk and nine hits while strik- ing out seven. Steady de- fense helped as Ryan McQuade initiated a dou- ble play in the fourth tak- ing the ball to second him- self and firing to Ryan McBride at first. The bats were back in fine form against some de- cent pitching as Jones picked up three singles, with Mike Versage and McBride grabbing a pair. Additional singles went to McQuade, Jeff Ashton, and Pete McKitterick. ° Darryl Dalton laid down a couple of nice bunts, one for a sacrifice, with Aaron Lycett putting down one himself for a single. The biggest hits came from Sean Jeffrey and Reid McTaggart who picked up a triple and home run re- spectively. The Kanata Pirates were the next opponent and again the ModJacks had the bats going as they racked up another win, this time the final being 12-6. They started right from the opening pitch tal- lying seven in the first in- ning and then coasting from there. Ashton slapped out two doubles and drove in two runs for the winners. Not to be out- done was Jones as he had two singles and four RBI's. Lycett added as sin- gle as did Mike Versage and Ryan McQuade. Get- ting on base was an ad- vantage as a number of these hits came with somebody on base via the walk. Keen eyes by Darryl Dalton, Reid McTaggart, Pete McKitterick, and Versage ensured move- ment around the bags. Ryan McBride took to the rubber and gave up six hits, four walks and struck out three. He also added a sacrifice bunt at the plate. McQuade was sharp in the shortstop position as he made numerous grabs there for groundouts. Dar- ryl Dalton was just about as busy as he made a goal- tender style grab at sec- ond and picked up five as- sists on put-outs. .. Up agamst Orangeville the bats tell deadly silent as the opposing pitcher mixed up his speeds and kept the local boys at bay. The bats were getting on the ball as we only record- ed three K's but they were either lazy pop-ups or ground outs.
