Hole-in-one wins you a car at Golf Classic The Tartan Golf Classic, to be held August 23 at Thunderbird Golf and 1s being held as a Classic will see one lucky golfer drive fundraiser for Scugog Public Library's away in a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire. Book Collection Fund. The golf tournament costs $125 per golfer, which includes green fees, power cart and dinner. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased separately for $50 per person. Celebrities will be on hand for the day, including Master of Ceremonies Lance Brown. Mr. Brown is the sports anchor of CFTO news. Red Kelly, a former Toronto Maple Leafs coach and player will also be on hand during the day. Philp Pontiac Buick and Country Style Donuts of Manchester announced last week the two local merchants will be giving away the Sunfire to the first golfer to sink hole-in- one on a Par 4, 175- yard hole. Police investigating car and electronics thefts Several area residents reported their vehicles stolen over the past week, according to Durham Re- gional Police. Sometime during the night of July 18 a 1991 Dodge Spirit was stolen from the driveway of a Sexton Street home. On July 18 a resident on Highway 12 reported a 1993 Polaris ATV stolen from his shed. Electronics stolen Police are still looking for two young males after an officer spotted the two carrying a stolen televi- sion down the street on July 13at4:16 a.m. An officer, on patrol, spotted the two struggling with a heavy object. When the officer approached the two they dropped the ob- ject and ran off. The officer stopped and found a 29- inch Sharp television set. Durham Regional Po- lice have since found out that a Mary Street apart- ment was broken into that evening. Along with the televi- sion seta VCR, JVC porta- ble CD player and an addi- tional 21" color television were also reported stolen. Police are working on sev- eral leads in the case.
