The groups visited local farms and attractions as well as taking in popu- lar sites such as Canada's Wonderland, the SkyDome and the CN Tower in Toronto. Beach party a huge success HN Blackstock What a great success the third annual beach party was on Saturday evening at the Fairgrounds. The weather was ideal, the music by the group Lowdown, along with their ex- cellent dancers, was great and the crowd both large and enthu- siastic. Congratulations to the organizers. Bernie and his wife Martha Riederer of Switzerland contin- ue to do sightseeing in various points of Ontario with their hostesses Aileen VanCamp and other friends. In last week's col- umn, I mistakenly reported Martha as Bernie's daughter. Hope you considered it a compli- ment. My apologies. Kathleen Watts has just re- turned from northern Ontario where she took Albert's cremat- ed remains. A special committal service was held on Sunday af- ternoon, July 23, in Monteith Cemetery when the remains were interred in the Watts' fam- ily plot. Albert had lived up there all his life before coming to this area in 1985. Many old neighbors and friends were present as were his sister Kathleen Lachance and her family, Albert's nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. The presiding minis- ter was Rev. Ted Raymer who had married Kathleen and Al- bert 14 years ago. After the ser- vice, everyone was invited back for lunch at the home of Kathe- rine and John Devins (Kath- leen's daughter and son-in-. law). Mrs. Bernice Hutching of Monteith and her daughter Ka- thy motored home with Kath- leen and spent an enjoyable week here in southern Ontario. Merrill and Jean VanCamp were weekend guests of Dale and Anita Davis at Bobcaygeon and enjoyed attending the Fid- dle and Step-Dance Competi- tion there. Best wishes go with Lloyd and Cindy Jamieson and their family of Nestleton and former- ly of Purple Hill on their move to their new home in the Okano- BBQ on Greenbank The Sunday congregation at Greenbank Church enjoyed the vocal solos of Carolyn Wilbur, who sang "Friends" and "Here We Are". Rev. Shepherd spoke on the church in the communi- ty. Mrs. Betty McGee has been the pianist for July and we have enjoyed her music. The next ser- vice in Greenbank United Church will be Sept. 3at 11 a.m. We hope that Rev. Shepherd and Charlene have a relaxing holiday, and we'll see everyone in September. Frank and Dot Kennedy of Norwood visited with Mel and Betty McGee on Sunday. John and Madeline McCabe have been enjoying a visit from their friend Mrs. Muriel Davis of Florida. Gamblers Fastball team play this Thursday evening 8 p.m. at Ianson Park against Brampton. On the weekend past, the team travelled to Napanee, and on Friday evening won their first game, but on Saturday lost two games. Thanks! Utica & Epsom This is the Civic Holiday Weekend coming up and there will be no church ser- vice for the Goodwood/ Epsom-Utica charge. The next service on Aug. 13 will be held at the home of Arnold and Gail Kerry at 10 a.m. The Hugo Stiller family along with Renate's parents thoroughly enjoyed their re- cent trip to Germany that took them away from home over the past five weeks. They started from the south- ern regions and drove their way north, visiting friends and relatives and discovering roots as Renate and her par- ents lived in Bavaria. They also visited Berlin where Hugo lived before coming to Canada. Along the way they viewed the many points of in- terest which included the many castles in Germany. The trip also gave Aaron and Rebecca a chance to put their ee No church service German language lessons to use. It's nice to have you home, your neighbors missed you. It could have been a meet- ing of the clan on Saturday afternoon and evening when the sound of several bagpipes emanated from the Scott home on Christie Cresc. I'm not sure of the occasion, but, I for one enjoyed the music im- mensely. Arnold and Gail Kerry and Paul and Shirley Baster spent the past week on an an- tique car tour through east- ern Ontario with the Kerry's 1918 Buick and their 1932 Buick which the Basters drove. I'm sorry to report that Irene Fielding is still under the weather. She did manage to get out on Sunday for a birthday party for her great- grandson Kristopher who is three years old. Don and Stella Asling at- tended the wedding on Satur- day of Laura Cordingley and James Jack in the Presbyter- ian Church, Uxbridge and the reception that was held in the Senior Citizens Hall.
