There is something for everyoné in The Case Of The Curious Cabaret - hu mor, mystery, and music. 4H Vet Club meets By Karen Dare The third meeting for the Durham West 4-H Vet Science Club was held on Monday, July 10 at Sun- derland's Brelmar Vet Chnie. We met in the clinic's lobby at 7:30 p.m. Press Reporter Karen Dare led the group through the 4-H pledge in the absence of both the president and vice-president. We were then introduced to Dr. D. Davies and a fourth year vet college student named Kim. * Our group settled out- side behind the clinic where Kim talked to us about muscles and joints. She also explained to us some causes and cures for muscle and joint diseases. We then went inside where Kim did an autopsy mainly concentrating on the joints and muscles in the lower leg. Kim took a few kids into the x-ray room where we saw some examples of Hip Dyspla- sia. We then had a tour of the clinic seeing the oper- ating room, office, etc. When the tour was com- plete, Dr. Davies handed out a Coke and a delicious chocolate-chip cookie to everyone. We then dis- cussed our next meeting which will be on July 31 at the Uxbridge Chiroprac- tors Office, 7:30 p.m. Our leader Dianne Morrison closed the meeting. MNR announces moose tag draws The Ministry of Natural Resources recently re- leased the results of the 1995 Adult Moose Valida- tion Tag Draw. Applicants received draw result notices through the mail begin- ning the week of July 17. "This year there were 17,775 bull and 6,547 cow validation tags available," said Natural Resources Minister Chris Hodgson. "Interest in the draw con- tinues to increase. There were 2,774 more applica- tions this year than there were in the 1994 draw." Hunters must have a validation tag, or be hunt- ing in a party with a vali- dation tag, to legally hunt adult moose. Adult moose validation tags are only valid in the specific Wild- life Management Unit (WMU)stated on the tag. "Unsuccessful apph- cants are licensed to hunt calf moose in any Wildlife Management Unit where there is an open season," said Mr. Hodgson. "These applicants may also try for asurplus tag." The number of valida- tion tags is down in 1995 to 24,322 from 26,852 in 1994. An increase in hunt- er success rates 1s a major reason for the decrease in tags in most of the WMUs.
