Scugog Soccer Club results Under Seven Lake Scugog Lumber vs Classic Aluminum Classic Aluminum had a great game against Lake Scugog Lumber this week. They ended up beating them by a score of 7-1. Goals for Classic Alumi- num were scored by Cas- sandra Aked, two; Bran- don MacPherson, one; Shayne Taylor, three; and Troy Wagg, one. The lone goal for Lake Scugog Lum- ber was scored by Jared | Olsen. J&D Carpentry vs Pineridge Sports Athletics J&D were victorious 5-3 over Pineridge. Brett Pope scored all five for J&D. Scoring for Pineridge were Alex McLaren, one; Jim- my Breslin, one; and Alex Tillaart, one. A game well played by both teams. Under Nine Manvers vs Antrim House It was a close game but Manvers pulled through with a 2-1 win over Antrim House. Scoring both goals for Manvers was Justin McGill and Chris Boom- hour scored for Antrim. Port Perry Metals vs Dairy Delight Unfortunately Dairy Delight defaulted in the game against Port Perry Metals. A fun game was played anyway and a good time was had by all Emma Kozlinsky also showcased some of her new moves. Raglan Welding vs Nuts About Chocolate These teams proved to be even in their 1-1 tie. Scoring for Raglan was Pe- ter Dutka with an assist from Adam Farnley and for Nuts About Chocolate, David Stewart with an as- gist from Amanda McNeil. Great kicks on defence from Raglan's Marie Gedge and terrific work in midfield by Raglan's Dana Romeril. The game also saw Kyle Paige as a great goalie and a strong perfor- mance as a forward by Cheryl Barchuk of Nuts About Chocolate. VanCamp & Kellar vs Roger's Automotive VanCamp & Kellar de- feated Roger's by a score of 8-2 this week. Goals for VanCamp & Kellar were scored by Scott Parting- ton, two; Justin Jimmo, two; and Kaitlin Almack, four. Scoring for Roger's was Trevor Longhurst with two awesome goals. Great determination and hustle was shown by the Roger's five-member team of Michael Wilson, Alex- andra Moffatt, Trevor Longhurst, Andrew Greco and Zach Greco. " Bank of Montreal vs Scugog Rentals The Bankers were de- feated by a score of 9-2 against Scugog Rentals. Goal scorers for Scugog Rentals were Russell Tra- cey, one; lan Wick, two, Kirk Stephens, two; and Michael Armstrong, four. Excellent effort by the sev- en-member Bankers team. Goals were scored by Steven Etherington of the Bank of Montreal and great saves by banker Jer- emy Bulloch. Underll Willowtree Farms vs Burketon Burketon downed Wi- lowtree by a score of 3-1. Two goals from Adam Phi- lippe and one from Philip Cudahy led Burketon to victory. They didn't have an easy time as Willow- tree had strong defensive play by Rebecca Aked, Josh Sobil, Kevin Gloster and good goaltending by Alex McKay. Scoring for Willowtree was Josh So- bil. M&M Meats vs Darlene Colton M&M shut out Darlene Colton by a score of 3-0. Richard Brazier, Matt Jones and Gord Smith each scored one for M&M Meats. Darlene Colton's Melissa Hale and Alicia Tillaart showed great ef- forts on the field. Willowtree Farms vs Brian's Towing Willowtree evened out the week by winning against Brian's Towing 2- 0. Both goals came from Evan Powell and there was strong defensive play by Willowtree's Jordan Beelby. Legal Eagles vs Scooters Legal Eagles shut out Scooters with one goal from Derek Goreski which was assisted by Mark Schinkel. The teams played an exciting first half with lots of end-to-end action. Great defence by both teams prevented any scoring in the first half es- pecially by Sarah Aldridge and Robert Notman of Le- gal Eagles. Strong team- work showed by the low score of 1-0 for Legal Ea- gles. ning. after three. great ball. Bantam Merchants The Port Perry Merchants Bantam fastball club continued their winning ways with a convincing 11-2 win over Oshawa on Wednesday, July 26. This write- up is brought to you by Kirby Structures. The Merchants got things going first as after shut- ting down Oshawa in the opening half inning they ex- ploded for four runs and an early 4-0 lead after one in- The second inning was much the same as the first as the Merchants held Oshawa off the scoreboard then picked up another two runs to take a 6-0 lead. Oshawa scored all their runs in the top of the third in- ning as they scored twice making it a 6-2 game. Not to be outdone the Merchants picked up three more runs in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 9-2 score The Merchant defence shut down Oshawa the rest of the way while the offence picked up their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth to round out the scoring and take the game by an 11-2 score. Jon Froats was on the mound for the Merchants and went the distance striking out five while picking up the win. Hitting for the Merchants were: Ryan Williamson with two singles and a triple, Jason Best with a single and two walks, Marc Versage with a single and a dou- ble, Jon Froats with two singles and a double, Ryan Hawkins with a single, and Derek Tindall and Mar- shal McQuaid each had a walk. The Merchants next home game is on Aug. 2 against Scarborough with an 8:30 p.m. start. Come on out and support these local boys while seeing some "It pays to advertise... Advertise where it pays..." Bantam girls put in a solid effort The Port Perry Stars Bantam Girls Fastball team have now played 12 of their 22 games this sea- son. Since joining the North York Women's Fastball Assoc. our girls have faced some solid competition, but have fared very well. Current standings place our girls in fifth place out of 11 teams, only five points behind the leaders. Looking over this year's statistics, our girls are currently holding a record of four wins, one tie and seven losses. Of interest is the fact that were it not for one bad inning in five of our seven losses, the games could have turned into wins for Port Perry. Solid efforts have come from all our players in- cluding Kristy Dalton, Dana Hooker, Mandy Langford, Cara Vander Slagt, Shona Moase, Heather Anderson, Jen Hillier, Jackie Thorne, Amanda LeFort, Holly Stone, Tamara Empring- ham and Kim Lachapelle who is still out due to inju- ry.
