The horses will con- verge for the Durham Re- gion Paint Horse Show to be held August 19 at Tom- linson's Horse Centre, lo- cated on Durham Road 21, between Manchester and Utica. The event is one of 20 shows to be held this year in Ontario and the second tobe held in this area. The first show, held June 4, was well-received so the Tomlinsons are expecting an even greater turnout to their August event. Horses and exhibitors, of all ages, will compete in a variety of events, rang- ing from English and Western Pleasure, Jump- ing and Driving to Barrel Racing and Leadline for the youngest family mem- bers. Some classes offer prizes or cash rewards, but all classes contribute towards exhibitors collect- ing points towards Provin- cial and National Awards. Two in stolen car are injured A Scugog resident has been charged after a stolen car crashed and sent two young people to hospital. Durham Regional Police were called to a Bigelow St. address just after 2 a.m. July 20, according to a report. A grey four-door 1984 Mercury Topaz that had been parked there had been stolen. Police said witnesses reported seeing the car being pushed away by three young men. Police attended the scene, but were unable to find any trace of the vehicle. Driver charged after crash Around 2:30 a.m. police received a report of a car crashing on Marsh Hill Rd. near the tricky intersection with Line 12, the report states. Police attend- ed the accident scene and reported that two males, aged 16 and 17, were sent to hospital in Markham and Toronto with serious injuries. An investigation led police to a 20- year-old man. He was arrested at his Line 9 home just after 9 p.m. July 20, police said. The man has been charged with pos- session of stolen property and theft. Witnesses told of watching a youth push the lawnmower away from the Hwy. 7A proper- ty around 3:45 p.m. Saturday (July 29) to a the youth load the lawn- mower into the car, police said. Police are also investi- gating the theft of a 16- foot fiberglass boat and 50 horsepower motor that was left in the parking lot at the municipal dock- ing area in Port Perry earlier this month. Theft of the $3,100 boat and motor occurred sometime between July 9 and 27, police said.
