14- PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, August 9, 1995 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Think: what's great about living in Cartwright? Sympathy of the community 1s extended to Ross and Marie Tysick on the passing of Marie's father, Mr. Forest Miller of Kingston last week. Mr. and Mrs. Miller lived for several years here in Blackstock before they moved to Kingston. Sympathy 1s also extended to Mrs. Miller from her many Blackstock friends. Forest had suffered poor health for several years, but had been a guest of honor at a family party just a couple of weeks ago celebrating his 80th birthday. Cecil and Marie Gibson and Alma Duff attended the funeral of their cousin Mrs. Audrey (Graham) Mark in Oshawa recently. Many local residents were guests at the recent wedding of Lisa Black, youngest daugh- ter of Bev and Shirley Black, formerly of Cadmus and Marty Stata of Lindsay. Little Miss Christina Bryans, neice of the bride was honored to act as flower girl at the wedding. Julie Bryant and her friend Dieder of Ottawa spent the week visiting her parents George and Brenda Bryant and brother Chris as well as many other friends and relatives in the area. Dwayne and Carol Bryant of Mitchell joined them for the weekend. Several other relatives gathered at the Bryant home to help Dwayne celebrate his 30th birthday. Z Blackstock Happy birthday, Dwayne. On Saturday at the Bowmanville Legion Hall, Patti Alpe, Wendy Killens, Nancy and Bob Bryans attended the 25th wedding anniversary of Barb and Vic Hanc. Wendy and Nancy were both attendants at the wedding of their sister 25 years ago which was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Better health 1s wished for Jim Emerton who 1s under the weather these days. Bob and Joanne Lee have returned home from a great vacation to the Maritimes including Newfoundland. Best wishes go to Pat and Jean Porrill who recently moved to Oshawa. The regular Fair Board meeting will be held on Thursday evening. Please plan to attend if it 1s possible. There were nine tables at the weekly card party wth the following winners: Milton Anderson, Verna Slute, Edna Manns, Myrtle Gimblett, Vera Fawns, Harry Hill, Ruby Smith with the lucky draw winners as Elsie Pogue, Kathleen Watts, Helen Dorrell, Earla Hill and Bernice Renton. You are reminded that the essay competition for the Fair, "Why T Like Living 1n Cartwright" 1s due by Aug. 15.
