PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 19, 1995 -5 Dowsons selling Valu- Mart store After 46 years, the Dow- son family is leaving the grocery business in Scu- 808. Ken Dowson, owner of Dowson's Valu-Mart store in the Port Perry Plaza, confirmed Monday that the store has been sold. He declined further comment, however, saying he would release more in- formation in about a week's time. He said he hasn't set any firm plans for himself in the near future. "I may be out of the gro- cery business for a while," said Mr. Dowson. "I don't really have any plans. Bt that time, there were seven grocery stores in town, along with two butcher shops, serving the needs of about 1,200 peo- ple. Elsewhere on the gro- cery store front, Scugog councillors are still wait- ing to hear further sub- missions from the Lo- blaws chain.
