Sullivan Entertain- ment used mainly the south side of Queen Street from the Post Office to Wa- ter Street to film sege- ments for an upcoming tel- evision series "The Wind At My Back." Many of the stores along the street were transformed to the 1930s. It is uncertain whether the segments will be used in the series orin the open- ing credits of the new show. "The Wind At My Back" chronicles the story of a over streets of Port Perry young woman's struggle as a single mother in the depression years. In the story Honey Bailey and her husband and children have to make a new start after losing their hard- ware store. The 13-week series delves into the struggles Honey goes through to get her chil- dren back. Aside from Port Perry, scenes for the television show have been shot on the Quarter Line. Bow- manville and Orono busi- ness districts have also been used for street scenes inthe series. Film guidelines sought From Page 1 Entertainment's donation to the BIA, but they did not compensate the store owners, Mrs. McKinnon said. Several of the store owners along Queen Street do not feel it is worth the hassle they go through. She said it is not that the merchants are greedy, but in these economic conditions they cannot afford to lose a day of business. Although both Mayor Hall and Mrs. McKinnon said the producers of the television show were pleas- ant and tried to be as unintrusive as possible, many merchants did not feel the compensation they were given made up forit. | The BIA used its compensation money from a mo- vie last summer to buy park benches for the down- town core. Mrs. McKinnon said she cannot speak for all the merchants, but said several merchants are not pleased with the way they were compensated. "Our focus right now is that we must have rules (for those filming in town). To set up some guidelines," she said. The BIA will be meeting over the next month to dis- cuss possible criteria for film makers, before another request for the use of the township is received. Mrs. McKinnon said she will be surveying all of the merchants to find out exactly how they all feel and what guidelines they can putin place.
