After serving both man and beast faithfully for one hundred years, most are now doomed to slowly deteriorate similar to the one show above. Delivery of the EFP Pro- gram 1s made possible by federal Green Plan funds, through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Tech- nical support is provided by staff of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs, and the program is adminis- tered by the Ontario Soil & Crop Improvement Associ- ation (OSCIA). "The increase in incen- tive dollars sends a strong signal to farmers about the importance of beingin- volved in the Environmen- tal Farm Plan process," said Roger George, OFA President, and one of the four Coalition Co-chairs. "Through the five-year EFP process, $5,000,000 of federal Green Plan will be invested in environ- mental remediation on Ontario farms." The EFP incentive dol- lars are available to farms who show that they have implemented environ- mental improvements identified in their peer re- viewed EFP Action Plan. The increase in the incen- tive will be retroactive for farmers who have already claimed the $500 previ- ously available. Approximately 400 farmers across Ontario have participated in the EFP Incentive Program, * Systems planning e Land cleaning °Root raking e Land levelling * Grassed waterways e Excavating * Laser controlled installation DRAINAGE INC. Farmers already completing EFPs have identified, on average, 30 potential environmental improvement projects on their farms. For every dollar of EFP Incentive Program money spent so far, an additional $8 has been invested by farmers on farm environ- mental improvements. "We have set the target for farmers participating in EFP workshops during the winter of 1996 at 2000," said Jim Magee, OFAC Chairman. "We feel confident that we will at least match last year's participation, and expect tosurpassit." Landowners who have inquiries about the pro- gram should call the EFP Program Representative in their local area or call the OSCIA office in Guelph at 1-800-265- 9751.
