A WINDOWS & PAT Market conditions won't last forever There is a billboard around town that states "The best time to buy a house is when nobody else thinks itis." According to this year's statistics, most people don't feel that thisis a very good time to buy. Sales are down significantly. While the billboard mentioned above was an ad for a real estate compa- ny, it is applicable for new homes as well as resales. And itis very true. Today's real estate mar- ket is struggling in one of the worst times in recent memory. Most people real- ize this and are uncertain about buying or selling in these times. There has been some political and so- cial upheaval, interest rates have been riding the rollercoaster and job situ- ations aren't solid. All these factors contribute to low levels of consumer confidence. People wishing to sell in order to upgrade remem- ber what their house was worth in the late 1980s and are, perhaps, holding out for a return to those levels. Many people are hesitant to make a pur- chase now because they remember what happened to those prices as values eroded in subsequent years. Some people are even claiming that real estate is not a good investment / $49.95 $69.95 10 DOORS ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS Reduce Drafts and Increase FINANCING AVAILABLE - 5 yrs. from Allen's Siding Products Limited ADDITIONS - SOLARIUMS ... They are wrong. What happened to real estate prices in the late '80s and early '90s was an aberration. Real estate has been, and will always be, one of the best invest- ments you can make. Prices in the late 1980s were overvalued due to a boom fueled by specula- tion. Today's prices are undervalued due to a soft market and uncertainty. Real estate values should be somewhere in between the peak of the boom and the depth of the recession. Prices today are still at the bottom. For a first time buyer, this is a buyer's market. Prices are low, choices are wide and mortgage rates are very reasonable. For the move-up buyer, it is still a very smart time to buy. Yes, you won't fetch the same price for your house today as you would have received in 1989, but the house you. wanted to buy is corre- spondingly lower today as well. So, before everyone else realizes it -- this is a great time to buy anew home. Visit the new home sites soon and take advantage of this market -- it won't last forever.
