The event is to mark the sixth anniversary of the passing of the 1989 all- party House of Commons resolution "...to seek to achieve the goal of elimi- nating poverty among Ca- nadian children by the year 2000." The annual re- port card on child poverty in Canada will be availa- ble at this event. The Children's Services Council (Durham) is a community partner in Campaign 2000, a nation- al movement committed to promoting and securing the full implementation of the House of Commons cember. The Durham Child Pov- erty Action Group is hold- ing a community discus- sion where participants will: * decide what issues re- lated to child poverty to talk about * lead the discussions * come up with plans on how the community can take action The open space method facilitated by Ed Goerz, an experienced facilitator of this process, will be used for our discussions. Skits about children liv- ing in poverty will be per- formed by G.L. Roberts and Monsignor John Per- eyma high schools as well as the Whitby Courthouse Theatre youth group. The event is open to all.
