Mr. Byers feels the re- cent snow falls have kept shoppers at home, but thinks the extra day (Sun- day) before Christmas should help overall sales. At Pentland Jewellers, manager Joanne Nitchie says there are plenty of browsers this year, and people seem to be more se- lective in what they are purchasing. She said the store has a lot of regular customers who are still buying what they want. In general the season has been good, but many are leaving their shopping alittle later than usual. " We've been very busy and business is up from last year," she said. Framer's Gallery, like many other stores in town, plans to open the Sunday before Christmas.
