Sunderland, Dec. 12 was where the action took place for our Pearce Auction team. With a few players short, and a few changes made to lines, we were ready to rock'n roll. The Red and White were Dyn-o-mite! It was back and forth for the first eight minutes until we fi- nally put the first score on the board. Thank you, Jeff Tomcheski. It was clocked at 8:22 of the first period. De- fencemen, Derek Goreski assisted Jeff with this great goal. Nice play boys. But don't turn your backs. Sunderland came right back at us in the second period tying up the score. O.K,, a little huddle at the bench, a few words of wisdom, and we were ready to take control of this game. Forty seconds after the Sunderland goal, our next point was entered on the boards by Ty- son Savage. Cassidy Weber was there to help out, and the two set up a nice play right between the pipes. That's not all folks! Sunderland managed to get one more added to their score, however, we want- ed this game tonight! It was Ashley Lu- cas who showed them how to skate down the ice single-handed and put it where no man has gone before! And if that wasn't enough, Cassidy Weber came in for a little piece of the action as well. "Back at you babe," he muttered to the Sunderland goalie, as he left the ice, adding yet another point to the score- board for Pearce Auction. What a great game. Ashley Lucas managed to get us an- other goal, with the assist going to Jeff Tomcheski. The forwards made passes that were right on the money, and the defence was solid like a rock. And let's not forget our goalie. Mark Carnaghan was hot, hot, hot! The final score was 5-2 for Pearce Auction. Our next game takes us to Stouffville, Dec. 15. In Stouffville Port Perry produced a Auctioneer Novice 1 action strong team effort and dominated a willing opposition. The first two periods were scoreless. Pearce Auction complet- ed some fine passes from Nelson Lang- maid and Taylor Churchill on defene to Keenan Geer, Kyle Mullins, and Kory Bauer up front. You could see the prac- tice drills paying off. Danny Walward and Shane Jeffrey broke up many Stouffville rushes with nicely timed stickchecks but occasionally you might hear, "Shane, two hands!" Mike Lycett handled the puck well and foiled a pick play where Stouffville got the penalty and the bruises. Gentleman, Matthew Roth slid a sharp pass to Mike Lycett who made no mistake, burning it in the net at the 20 second mark of the third. It looked like we might win this one but the Stouff- ville captain found the top corner to knot it up late in the game and that was how it ended. Saturday afternoon, Dec. 16 the Auc- tioneers travelled to Uxbridge to meet the Bruins. Right from the start you could tell the game would be close be- cause of the end to end action, but this was not reflected on the scoreboard. At the end of the first period, Ux- bridge held a three goal lead despite several scoring opportunities including breakaways by Kyle Mullins and Ash- ley Lucas. Three minutes into the second period Kyle Mullins found the net off an Ash- ley Lucas pass. Then with two minutes remaining in the period Tyson Savage scored from: Kyle Mullins and Keenan Geer. Strong goaltending by Mark Carna- ghan and good defensive work by Derek Goreski, and Taylor Churchill finished off the period. The third period saw Uxbridge notch one more. The game ended 4-2 for Ux- bridge but this was our best outing yet against the strong Uxbridge team. This was due to a great team effort. Game one saw the team meet Honeywell. Both teams started fast with Honeywell scoring first and then Chris McKitte- rick's goal from Jesse Mul- lins and Stormy Wootton just 11 seconds later. Port took a 2-1 lead when Joey Lane scored an unassisted goal. Honeywell tied the game before the first peri- od was over. Both teams had scoring chances in the second period but good goaltending, good defen- sive play and just missed chances kept the game tied. Honeywell scored the winning goal on a breaka- way 2:30 minutes into the third. Even with the Pine- ridge squad pressing they could not come up with the equalizer. Game two saw the team have an easy 10-0 win over Humphrey. This game saw Justin Koury score his first two goals of the season. Luke Pilkey and Tony Boomsma also got their first goals. Other goal scorers were Jesse Mullins with two and sin- gles going to Pierce Jones, Joey Lane, B. J. Schaump and Garrett Brown. An- drew Fancy and Peter Konstantinopoulos had an easy time sharing the shutout. Fifty seconds later Ryan Hnatko scored the winner with his second goal of the game. Joey Lane and Tyler Lee earned assists. The whole team played well all week- end. Way to go team! Dec. 1 Pineridge Sports Atoms hosted Oshawa Red Wings and played their best game to date winning 2-0. Peter Kon- stantinopoulos and An- drew Fancy shared the shutout. Stormy Wooton and Justin Shinn supplied the scoring while Jesse Mullins got an assist. Nov. 25 the Pineridge squad travelled to Grafton to play Cobourg. Port came away with a 7-3 win led by a three goal, one as- sist effort by Stuart Co- chrane. Also scoring for Port Perry were Joey Lane with two goals, Chris McKitterick with a goal and an assist, Justin Shinn with a goal, B. J. Schaump with two assists, Stormy Wootton with one assist, Tyler Lee with one assist and Jesse Mullins with one assist. Re/Max victorious It was the second of back-to-back games be- tween these two evenly matched hockey teams. Re/Max opened the scor- ing on a goal by Ian Page, with an assist going to Josh Page.
