Parts of downtown Port Perry, including the business section, were without power for about half and hour last Wednesday morning. Scugog Hydro manager Terry Adderley told the Port Perry Star the cold temperatures registered overnight were probably to blame for the interruption. He said at times of extreme cold, fuses tend to weaken. This was the case Wednesday when a fuse located on a pole along North Street rupt- ured due to the cold. Scugog Hydro crews were on the scene shortly after the first complaint and power was restored within a short time. Before the first snow- fall hit the area, the town- ship had about $30,000 left over from last winter's budget, and Councillor Pearce said it was hoped they could get through until the end of the year. The township will now have to draw extra funds from other parts of the budget to cover the grow- ing deficit. Councillor Pearce spec- ulated the municipality may be able to get some funds from a $40,000 rebate expected from the | chocolates like you've never tasted at: NUTS ABOU T (HC (VATE 182 Queen St., Port Perry 3 Kent St. Ww. y Lindy region for the waste man- agement (blue box) pro- gram.
