Sunday service at Greenbank United Church was on Presby- tery. The third candle of Lent was extinguished by Ralph and Ruby Dusty. Keith Bacon, our representative to Lindsay Pres- bytery gave a short talk on Com- munication and what this means to him and how we can relate this to every day living. Rev. Shepherd then took uson a trip around the borders of Pres- bytery. As you know by now Green- bank United Church is celebrat- ing its 100th Anniversary this year and as part of this we are having a church family photo di- rectory prepared. Each family ~ participating will receive a 10x13 free color portrait plus a copy of the directory. Photos will be taken March 27 and 28. We welcome back John and Madeline McCabe after a two month stay in Florida and its nice to have the Chicken Coop Bake Shop open and emitting the tantalizing smells of fresh bread baking. Donna and Michell Oldnall have returned after a month holiday in Florida and are back to work at the bake shop. We send sympathy to Nor- man Elson and his family on the death of his wife Dot who after an extended stay in hospital . passed away on Saturday. Seagrave Church News Presbytery Sunday was Church dinner Apr. 10 observed last Sunday when Reverend Shepherd's ser- mon was on "Presbytery." He described the boundaries of Lindsay Presbytery and the churches therein. Lawrence Nicholls told of his experienc- es when he served as Presby- tery representative for six years and as Member At Large for the last two years. Reverend Shepherd is chair- man of Lindsay Presbytery. Margaret Ingram is serving as Presbytery representative at present. The choir sang "I Am Thine Oh Lord" with Law- rence Nicholls singing a solo part. Shannon Pickford extin- guished the third lenten can- e. There is a congregational meeting this Wednesday, March 13 at 8 p.m. at the church. Seagrave United Church 1s planning their annual beef supper to be held on Wednes- day, April 10. The students and teachers are enjoying a two week March break and so many families are away this week to destinations either to the sunny south or away to skiing resorts. On Sunday Neil Werry host- ed a family gathering with his guests as Mrs. Ruth Thompson, Port Perry, Carol and Rob Mairs, Kate and Steve of Nes- tleton, the Werry's of Prince Al- bert, Joy and Ian Rudkin of next door. This was a birthday party celebrating Ruth, Carol, Joy and Larry's birthdays which all take place within a short time. Happy birthday greetings to you all. Helen and Stuart Dorrell are enjoying two of their daughters visiting them. Annie Dorrell of New Liskeard, Lisa and Steve Tufts, Hanna and Lucas of El- gin, Manitoba are enjoying a visit with Mom and Dad and other relatives in the area. No doubt Melody and Wilson Rod- man, Bryce and Courtice of Lit- tle Britain will be joining the family whenever possible. The Lions Clubis busy selling tickets for the annual Farmers' Night on March 20 when the Minister of Agriculture, the honorable Noble Villeneuve will be the speaker. Call a mem- ber of the Lions club soon if you wish to be part of this. Saturday visitor of Neil and Elaine Bailey was Elaine's cou- sin Bill Ego of Sutton. No doubt it was a time of much visiting and good fellowship. Our community continues to wish Jean Trewin better health as she remains in Port Perry Hospital. There were six tables at the weekly card party with the fol- lowing winners Elwood Manns, Pat Porrill, Vivian Kydd, Cliff Trapp, Thomas Manns, Muriel Butson, and Leslie Johnston. Lucky draws were won by Gord Finney, Vi Linton, Ruby Smith and Char- lie Campbell. For anyone enjoy- ing a game of euchre, this Tues- day evening weekly card party is a place for you. It happens each Tuesday evening at the Town Hall on Old Scugog Road and starts at 8 p.m. sharp. The sign up sheet for the an- nual Kelly Mixed Bonspiel is at the Arena. This will be taking place on March 25 and 26 begin- ning each night at 6:30 p.m. Vis- itors are welcome to either play Farmers Night March 20 or observe. At the Curling Club Execu- tive the date for the Banquet and Awards Night of the Curl- ing Club was set for Saturday. April 6 as a pot luck supper to be held at the United Church C.E. Room. This is the same evening as the Angus Dance at the Rec Centre so those wishing to go on to thateventindeed may be able toattend both. Roast Caesarea I'm glad to report the Cart- wright High School's Senior Concert Band is going on a concert tour to Washington, "D.C. in May. To raise funds for this trip they are holding a banquet with a roast beef dinner May 30 - 7 p.m. at the Blackstock Rec. Centre. Price is $15 per person. They will hold a silent auction that evening on a large number of items, plus a lucky draw now selling at $2 each or three for $5. Prize is an airplane flight around Lake Scugog piloted by Ted Griffen of Scugog Lumber followed by break- fast at a well known restau- rant. Another prize is two Blue Jay tickets. If you have items you wish to donate for this auction, call or drop them off at the school. So lets all get behind this drive and give our young people the help they need! I attended the Caesarea Hall Board's meeting last Sunday night and my con- gratulations to the board on the wonderful job that was done on the entrance hall, kitchen and washrooms with the new linoleum. Due to the Easter weekend, the next meeting will be held Sunday, April 14 at8 p.m. We all had a great feast at the Pine Ridge Garden Club's pot luck supper last Tuesday night.
