Hot luncheon's on J Scugog Island by dL Weekend Spring Events Despite our cold weath- er, many spring events have been planned for next weekend by local groups. Rain or shine these events will be invit- ing! The Grace U.C.W. will be holding their Annual Hot Luncheon on Satur- day, May 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scugog Is- land United Church. The Head U.C.W. will be sponsoring an Annual- Craft and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 4 from noon to 3 p.m. at' the Scu- gog Island Hall. There will be demonstrations of tatting, folk art, quilting, antique wooden cars and toys, spinners, and paint point. Enjoy a cup of tea' and have your fortune read. There will also be a display of tablecloths and the usual "second time around" table and "Loo- neyjars." The Community Nurs- ing Home and Villa will be holding their Annual Spring Bazaar on Satur- day, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in both buildings. Their theme this year is "Sail into Spring." 2nd Scugog Cubs and Beavers Thank you to all who contributed to our door-to- door canvassing for Scou- trees for Canada. We will be planting 1500 trees on the Island this Friday eve- ning. If we missed you during our canvassing and wish to contribute to this fundraiser, please call Wayne at 985-0302 or Howard at 985-7646. This past Sunday some of our Cubs competed in the Regional Kub Kar Ral- lv in Pickering. Jason Wanamaker placed sec- ond in the "Boy Only De- sign" category. The Beavers enjoyed their year-end camp last weekend at Camp Samac. The boys enjoyed watch- ing the up-stream journey of rainbow trout in the Oshawa Creek. 4th Port Perry Brown- ies The 4th Port Perry Brownies enjoyed a sleep- over at the Island Hall over the weekend. They actually slept in the Scout tents on the floor! On Sat- urday they spent the day at Kortright Conservation Centre and earned their Space, Water, Environ- ment Appreciation, and Outdoor Exploring badg- es. Hospital Auxiliary 'The Hospital Auxiliary has plans well underway for their Silent Auction to be held at the hospital on Friday, May 10 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mark your calendars now! Scugog Shores Museum Village The museum will be holding a series of eight Herbal Workshops on each Tuesday evening in May and June from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heal Memorial Church on the museum grounds. Scugog Island United Church The orchestra played during our: worship ser- vice on Sunday morning. We look forward to having them back again the end of May! The Lectionary Bible Study Group will meet on Saturday Tuesday, April 30 at 1:30 p-m. Wilderness First Aid course is on Are you an avid nature nut who participates in camping and wilderness hiking? Have you thought about taking a Wilderness First Aid course? The course teaches val- uable information on cold exposure, bear attacks, burns, gunshot wounds, broken bones, dental emergencies, mushroom and berry poisoning. The course also offers helpful ideas on improving first aid supplies, shelters and signalling for help. St. John Ambulance re- quires a pre-requisite in either Standard First Aid or Emergency First Aid before registration of the course. The 20 hour course is held in Oshawa on May 3,4andb.
