Paul, Shirley, Arnold and Gail have returned from an "old car tour" to Stowe, Vt., and Lake Placid, N.Y. Fifty cars, ranging from 1911 to 1976, toured the valleys and climbed the mountains, 'including Smugglers Notch and a few brave (crazy) souls took their cars up White Face Mountain, the highest peak in New York. You can be sure Basters and Kerrys were up there in the clouds too. What a joy to drive through the countryside and small towns in open cars where we can be in touch once more' with the sounds and smells of the world, instead of driving in an air-conditioned car shut up tight with radios playing. (A quote from Gail). Utica neighbors were con- cerned last week when an am- bulance pulled up to the Scott home and took Jim to hospital. Fortunately he checked out well and was able to return home. Everyone was glad to hear that youre O.K. Jim. Rebecca and Cassandra Aked are off this week to visit their grandparents in B. C. for some holidays. The past week, the Aked family spent a few days at a cottage in Haliburton and a few days later were off to Otta- wa for shopping, sight-seeing, ete. Epsom neighbours were sorry to hear of the passing of Mel Cracknell, who until recently had been a summer visitor to the village for many years. Sym- pathy to his wife Pat from all your friends. Twenty-nine members of the Ashton family, including Del and Dorothy Catherwood and Don and Stella Asling, enjoyed Sunday at the Ken Catherwood cottage on Balsam Lake.
