2- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 30, 1996 McLaughlin - Buick tour will make stop in Port Perry in August Magnificent men (and women) in their nostalgic automobiles are about to invade Port Perry once again this summer. Antique car buffs will be delighted to learn that 55 cars, built in Oshawa by Sam McLaughlin between 1908 and 1942, will be in town on Aug. '10. The tour is expected to arrive in Port Perry about noon and members will put their cars on display for about 3 hours behind the CIBC on the old arena pad. David Mitchell, a member of the McLaughlin-Buick Car Club told the Port Perry Star the club was founded in 1971 on the 100th anniversary of Sam McLaughlin. Since then the club has grown to more than 400 mem- bers coming from across Canada and many other parts of the world. The club begins its tour Thursday in Oshawa and on Friday will make stops at General Motors, Brooklin, Cullen Gardens and Camp Samac. The public is invited to drop by and see these spec- tacular vehicles and speak with their owners. Mr. Neill said he was surprised when first con- tacted by editors in the South American country, but agreed to have his work translated into Spanish for publication there. He said editors were painstaking in their work: They had to contact him, for instance, for an alternative to "drooling", a word in the poem for which there was no Spanish equivalent. Then, months passed, and Mr. Neill, 69, - assumed that the maga- zine had decided against using the poem. Friday, however, a copy of the magazine arrived, with the poem featured. "This makes me offi- cially international," said Mr. Neill, an accom- plished Canadian poet who moved to Port about a year ago. 25th WEDDING ug} ANDERSON'S ANNIVERSARY : "We're rass ro Lan . a LOIN LCi idl 5 | fl craft show he NW . & sale | Ek Order any 3 item Bigfoote Pizza Large round PIZZA & SUBS Findus fastin (fe atregular price &receivea | 10 slice pizza, 18% 80 Water Street, Port Perry " Free Delivery ; he "Yellow 5 Marble Cake FREE 1 am, Ho wines ha maliniet (Gy | Paser"™ [J ner seo che coke 085-8448 Area il BA A SS SA SARS AR SAA AAR AA AAR ARRAN RRA RAR AAA AAR SAR AR ANA RAR SAA nn
