"A Family Tradition for 130 Years" | Woman relieved of purse by thief at shopping plaza | Add another to the list of crimes making their way into Port Perry: Purse snatching. . Durham Regional Police reported that a Nestleton woman was relieved of her purse while shopping at the Port Perry Plaza last Wednesday after- noon. ! Sgt. George Scott said that as the woman was walking from the bank to the Food Basics store, she encountered a man who bumped into her, brushing her shoulder bag. When she got into the store, the woman discovered her purse had been removed from the bag. She had only glanced at the man after their collision in the parking lot, and therefore could offer police only a vague description of a suspect: He's a male who was wearing a brown suit. Sgt. Scott said the incident should serve as a warning to people in the area that thieves are present. _ "We're not insinuating that there's a rash of pick-pockets in Port Perry, but it's a coneern," he said.
