It was also Awards Day for the Sunday School and Superintendent Janice Lee spoke about the work and fun the children and teachers have in their respec- tive classes. There is always a need for teachers and on Rally Day Janice used a Jr. Farmers slogan, Activate, Motivate and get yourself in motion. Certificates and seals were given to the young people, with Perfect Attendance Awards to Jill Hunter, Tyson Lee, Katelyn Lee, Ken Hunter and Russell Lee. Well done to all the young people and their teachers and we hope everyone has a good year. It was nice to have the choir back from a much deserved rest. Their Ministry in Music was "We have come into His House." This Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. there will be a clean- ing bee in the church for all Musicales to resume Sept. 15 w 2nd Scugog Scouts The 2nd Scugog Scouts annu- al Jumbo Sale will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Island Hall. Scugog Shores Museum The museum will be holding their Pioneer Fall Fair on Sun- day, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. packed full of fun for all ages. The day will feature craft vendors, demonstrations of butter making, quilting, spin- ning and weaving, etc., clogging by the Outback Cloggers to fid- dle music in the barn, animal display for the children, lunch special in the church, antique quilt display, cow milking con- test, and apple pie or butter tart contest. Sunday Evening Musicale The Sunday Evening Musi- cales will begin on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Head Memorial Church on the museum grounds. There will be a different show every week. Admission is one big smile. A donation to the Food Bank is ac- ceptable. Scugog Island United Church 'Sunday proved to be a busy morning at Scugog Island Unit- ed Church. It was Rally Sunday and it was an opportunity to rec- ognize the Nursery, Moms & who can spend some time. This is preparation for the many activities to be held in the next two weeks. The Centennial starts out this Friday evening by a con- cert with Charlie Farquharson and Catherine McKinnon. At last report tickets were all sold but if you are interested you could call Rodd Foster 985-8298, he might have one. On Friday, Sept. 20 there will be an evening of banjo music starting at 7 p.m. in Greenbank Church. Also entertaining will be some of our former community mem- bers. This musical evening will be open to everyone at no chargetand there will be a social time of hot dogs, corn, donuts, coffee and cold drinks, charging only a nominal fee to cover costs. : On Saturday afternoon there will be a Victorian Tea being held in the Sunday "School rooms put on by the Evening Unit U.C.W. and they hope to make you feel like you are back in the early part of the century.
