20- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 8, 1996 By ChrisMonsma On Sunday, Oct. 6 at Scugog Arena Scugog Hockey League saw some rough and tough action with hard skating and great goaltending. Gamel - Cedar Creek Contracting 1vs Compton Cablg[T.V.2 Game 1 was a goaltenders dual to the finish. Fortu- nately for the Comets they came out on top 2-1. Clippers opened the scoring gn a goal by Mike McQuade. Then Steve Churchill scored for the Comets assisted by Ken Davison and Brian Till. Then Bill Bridge won the game for Comets, assists went to Ken Davison and Sean Fewer. Game 2 Taylor Fuels 4 vs Pineridge Sports 0 In this game Taylors had it all, they had excellent goaltending by Huggie to get the shutout and they had great offence by Rick Campbell with four points, Doug Bronson with three points and Randy Prosser with three points. Scoring goals for the Aces were Doug Bronson assist- ed by Randy Prosser and Rick Campbell. Then Doug Bronson and Rick Campbell assisted a goal by Randy Prosser. Campbell then assisted goals by Randy Pros- ser and Doug Bronson. Game 3 J&D Carpentry 4 vs Van & Truck World 3 In this game we saw the Hawks come back from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3. John Mackey had a big game with three points. Sharks led off with a goal by Jarett Harman assisted by Wayne Fox and Dave Burnett. Then Wayne Fox and Jarett Harman assisted a goal by Wayne Fox. Jarett Harman scored his second of the game assisted by Steve Fox. Then it was the Hawks turn to do all the scoring. Steve Groves started it off with a goal. Assist 3-2 for the Sharks. Then Jim Duncan tied it up at three. Assists went to Joe Currans and Brad Hurst. Steve Groves started the comeback and Steve Groves finished it on a nice goal assisted by John Mackey and Dave Brownson. Malmont Atom squad earns 5-5 tie in Sutton tilt The 1996 Malmont Farms Atom A team was unveiled in exhibition play against Sutton at Port Perry on Friday, Oct. 4 frey's hard work earned him another assist. Sutton, again, drew even. Justin Shinn fed Joey Lane, who set up a falling Chet Martin, who slid in his second goal of the game. Sutton matched it with a nice goal of their own. Kevin Robins broke down the wing and potted a wrap-around, unassist- ed. Malmont Farms Jus- tin Koury sent Pat Lewis on his way with a nice pass. Pat's patience paid off as he slid the puck un- der a sprawling goalie. Sutton didn't give up, coming back to tie this en- tertaining game in the last minute 5-5. . - Sutton came out strong applying pressure. Scott Honey was up to the chal- lenge in net turning them aside. Justin Shinn and Kevin Robins rushed up the ice ringing one off the post. Port struck first with Chet Martin undressing the defense and deking the goalie for a gorgeous goal. Assist went to Jeff Talmey. Sutton came back to tie it, then Kevin Robins de- flected in Michael Lycett's shot to pull ahead. Senators got a bit closeron a goal by Todd Wilbur assisted by Mark Decosta and Brian Norton. In the last minute of play the Senators pulled their goalie to get the extra attacker and it paid off because Rick Hope scored to tie it up. Assists were awarded to Todd Wilbur and Warren Geer. Game 5 Harrison Fuels 3 vs Monsma Electric 5 Monsma Electric got their first win of the season af- ter beating Harrison Fuels 5-3. Bill Van Camp had a big contribution with three goals and an assist. Bill Van Camp started the scoring with a nice goal. Assist went to Henry Forderer. Then the Chargers made it two to nothing on a goal by Henry Forderer. Assists went to Bill Van Camp and Brian Stevenson. Chargers third goal was scored by Ritchie LeFort, as- sisted by Bill Weisflock. Flames scored next on a goal by Dean Smith. Assists went to Bob Partington and Larry Jackson. Flames second goal was scored by Lar- ry Pilkey, assisted by Jim Beatty. Just as the Flames were getting a comeback going the Chargers had to kill it with two goals by Bill Van Camp. Assists went to Jack Monsma (two), Brian Stevenson and Brian Buns. Flames did get one back but it was too late. Scoring the goal was Dave Dickson, assisted by Wayne Norton.
