Then Shane Jeffrey sent Port's Justin Shinn on a rush past the defense and potted the backhand. Nearing the end of the first period, Joey Lane fed Justin 0 a hard wrist shot from the blue Shinn, who let line that found the top corner. On the opening play of the second frame, Jeff Talmey drove to the net and snapped the puck in. The assist went to Chett Martin. Port's defense, Justin Koury, Derek Goreski, Shane Jeffrey, and Danny Halward, all put in a strong game. Picker- ing's squad kept pressing and managed to come back to tie the game 3-3. At home on Oct. 11, Malmont Farms hosted Trenton for their season opener. After a close first period, Port found themselves down a goal. Joey Lane lugged the puck into the offensive zone and found Jeff Talmey alone in front. After his third re- bound, Jeff finally beat the goalie to bring Port even. Moments later a beautiful passing play in- volving Justin Shinn to Pat Lewis and up to Kevin Robins resulted in Kevin driving it home. Trenton ins, Malmont Atoms off to Pickering On Tuesday, Oct. 8 Port Perry's Malmont Farm Atoms visited Pickering to meet their double A tied the game early in the third. Malmont's Kevin Robins went end to end and Jeff Talmey was there to bang in the rebound to make it 3-2. Two quick goals by Trenton, late in the game, let them steal this hard fought contest from the home team. Leo Taillon looked promising in net for Malmont. Sunday found Port Perry in Lindsay to face the Muskies. This was a wild one that saw end to end battles with 19 minor penalties. Kevin Robins had a six-point game with a hat trick and three assists. Matt Roth scored short handed assisted by Joey Lane. Kevin Robins' first goal was a wrap-around assisted by Justin Koury. The second period start- ed tied 2-2. Justin Shinn picked up a rebound to score with assists to Mike Lycett and Kevin Rob- Kevin's second goal was scored on a breaka assisted by Jeff Talmey. Kevin, in the slot, was set up by Justin Shinn for his third goal of the day. Jeff Talmey scored two in a row starting with a wrap- around from Justin Koury. Next Jeff knocked in a Kevin Robins rebound. Matt Roth rounded out Port Perry's scoring with another assist from Ke- vin Robins.
