"A Family Tradition for 130 Years" MoJacks edge Ice in overtime by John B. McClelland Special to the Port Perry Star ARRY FORTH made the right decision and saw it pay off big dividends for the Port Perry Modacks as they chipped the @eorgina Ice 4:3 Sunday night at the Scugog Arena. With the teams dead-locked 3-3 midway through a five minute sudden death overtime period, a tired Forth was at the end of a shift and ready to head for the bench when linemate Dwight Gingrich sent a long pass deep into Ice territory. Instead of the bench, Forth turned up the jets and went chasing the puck. He caught up to it near the Ice crease, gained control and tucked a neat back- hand just under the arm of opposing netminder Brad Hackert. Daryl Senachal drew the other assist on the goal that touched offquite a MoJack celebration. Forth's effort, his second marker of the season, gave the green and white the win and kept their un-defeated home ice string intact. "I was thinking of getting off the ice, but went after the puck and was able to. get it under control before getting the shot away," said a happy Forth in the dressing room ds his team-mates celebrated the win and the all-important two points. Forth is in his first season with the ModJacks after playing Junior D last year in St. George. He's a first year sports admin. student at Durham College, and his OT goal Sunday night is certainly the Win keeps home ice undefeated streak alive high point of his campaign so far. "I was pleased to see Forth get that goal. He's always a real hard worker and it's nice to see him get rewarded," said head coach Chic Carnegie after the tucked it quickly behind Hackert. "That was Pigeau's third point of the night as he helped set up the first two ModJack goals, both coming off the stick of linemate Rob BARRY FORTH Simms. : For the visitors, Kyle Osborne netted a pair and Jason Callahan added the other in what was a well-played, entertaining Junior C hockey match. "It was good, clean game. We always seem to get good hockey against the Ice," said Carnegie, noting that the previous encounters so far this season have been close affairs with the MoJacks getting. the upper hand in both of them. Carnegie was especially pleased with the team effort, as his bench was considerably shorter as the game progressed. : Jason Phillips and Jeff Clark had early showers after being tossed for scrapping, and a flu bug felled Ryan Speake and a mid-way through the-centest. That same bug hit Senachal, though he managed to stay on the bench. N Phillips got tossed in the third period after he took SREDLRR i2 the way Ice forward Andrew Fox ete Scott Heasman at the knees'deep in the MoJack zone. Phillips got tagged with an instigator penalty for sticking up for his team mate. Paul Roberts went the distance in nets for the MoJacks whose record now stands at 15 points on seven wins, five losses and one tie. Though they have yet to lose on home ice, MoJacks have won just once on the road, and Carnegie would badly like to see that trend change this coming Friday evening when the team travels to Georgina for a re-match with the Ice. SLAPSHOTS: With the Grey Cup football game coming up on Sunday, MoJack's home game has been re- scheduled for Saturday night (November 23) with face-off set for 7:30 PM.
