PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, January 28, 1997 - 17 "A Family Tradition for 131 Years" h J ---- SPORTS Just two games left in broomball regular schedule After this past Sunday there are only two weeks of league games left to be played and the playoff po- sitions are pretty well set except for who will end up in second or third. The B&R Homespec Swam- pers will take first place and they are currently fol- lowed by the Blackstock Brewers, Trader Sam's and the Brooklin Bruins. In game one Sunday Trader's bounced the Swampers 2-1 in overtime to keep pace with Black- stock. Sam's struck first early in the second period on a goal by Gord Jones as- sisted by Craig Leask. It looked like this would hold up as the winner until with just 34 seconds to play, Jason Price replied from Mike Butt and Brian Pomeroy forcing the over- time. The lone marker in OT for Trader's came off the broom of Ken St. Amant on an unassisted effort. The second game was a forfeit as the Raven's didn't have enough toice a team thereby awarding the Framer's Gallery the win. The awarded goal went to Steve Kristensen. The final of the day had second place Blackstock hosting the fourth place Bruins. The Brewers came out on top of a 2-1 squeak- er to retain their position in the overall standings. Tom Wotten notched both Blackstock goals, one in each period with the first coming just 47 seconds into the game. James Hudgins and Al . Boumeester drew the as- sists on the first goal with Tim Cochrane aiding on the second. The lone Bruins goal came off the stick of Wayne Tate with Shawn Mitchell gaining the assist.
