If people saw the way the kids had fun there on the weekend, they would have no reservations about making this a fun family getaway." While Mr. Goldberg at- tributes the small crowds on Saturday to changing lifestyles, he doesn't have an answer for Sunday. "I can see the small crowds on Saturday be- cause the way things are changing, people have to work all week and Satur- day too. But Sunday, that's a family day. We an- ticipated that to be our big day. "I guess we just have to educate people on the fa- cility and let them know what they are missing. It's a perfect way for a family to spend the day." While he says that this year was the best ever, Mr. Goldberg said that plans have already begun for next year. We're looking at making a couple of changes that will make the event even better. With some of the changes we will even be able to dou- ble the amount of racers which will make the event better next year." Some of the changes be- ing looked at by Port's Kinsmen Club include the possibility of a golf putt or closest-to-the-pin ~~ chal- lenge and an all-day Fri- day entertainment ses- sion for kids from local schools. . While the decision to move the races to Raglan miffed a few people, Mr. Goldberg says that it was the right move. "Taking the derby off the streets was the right move and the Kinsmen Club is happy about that. This year was the best overall, and we all believe that the change of venue was the right choice," he said. While the plans are un- derway for next year's competition, slated for Jan. 24 and 25at Trillium Trails, Mr. Goldberg also says that the Kinsmen have set out some goals. "Now that we know that the venueis correct we are going to try to increase our sponsorship and increase the public's awareness of thisevent." The proceeds from the derby went to the Canadi- an Cystic Fibrosis Foun- dation, and the amount raised would not be availa- ble until later on this week. CEO signs From Page 1 ahead in health care."
