Ross Carson and his family to the church and the commu- nity. The Sunday School chil- dren sang a delightful rap song, K-K-Kazoo, and after a story from Rev. Carson left the sanc- tuary for their classes. Next Sunday both Church and Sunday School start at 11:15 a.m. and you are most welcome. The U.C.W. Fidelas Unit will meet in the church school rooms on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 1:30 p-m. and the Evening Unit will meet also on Wednesday, at 8 p.m. and all ladies of the com- munity are welcome to either of these meetings. - The Greenbank Youth Group are planning an evening of bowl- ing on Friday, Feb. 7 and any youth of the community, Grade 7 and older interested in going bowling with the group please call Holly Stone for more infor- mation at 985-3427. The Youth Group are having a spaghetti supper on Sunday, Feb. 23 in the church basement from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the evening. Tickets are $5 each, $2.50 for children under 12 or a family ticket for $15. Congratulations to a long time resident of Greenbank, Arvella Phoenix, who now resides in Uxbridge, who cele- brated her 90th birthday on Saturday, Jan. 25. On Sunday last following church, Diane Pellitier hosted a luncheon for a few of Arvella's friends to honor her and wish her well. Last Friday evening a few staunch euchre players ven- tured out in the snow to Greenbank Hall for the monthly cards. Winners were: Ladies - Jean Rodd, Doris Hill and Norrine Cook. David Shepherd to the Seymour Pastoral Charge on Sunday evening which was held in Tabernacle United Church near Hoard Station. Tim Lamb and Derick Kent Cubs hold annual winter weekend and visit Orono 2nd Scugog Cub Pack The Cubs held their annual winter camp this past weekend and they couldn't have asked for a better weekend. The Scout Troop accompanied the Cubs and helped with cooking the Saturday morning breakfast. Friday night and Saturday morning was spent at Orono Jungle Cat World. The boys and leaders observed up close and learned about African Lions, Siberian Tigers, Snow Leopards, Lynx, Black Jaguars, Monitor Lizards, snakes, mon- keys, goats, wolves, cougars, etc. It was an awesome experi- ence. On Saturday afternoon they tested their luck ice fishing on the lake and then spent Saturday night sleeping at the Island Hall. Thanks to the lead- ers and parent helpers who helped to make it a very suc- cessful and memorable camp. Scugog Island United Church Rev. Bruce White was our guest speaker for the Sunday morning worship. Special thanks to the parents of the Sunday School for providing 'Scugog Island oy [a-- refreshments for our Coffee Hour following the service. In the afternoon a few families gathered at the arena for our annual Sunday School Skating Party. The Moms and Tots will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 9:30 a.m. at S.I.U.C. The Grace U.C.W. will meet at the church on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The Head U.C.W. will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. at the home of Freida Cochrane. The choir will practice on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the church. New members are welcome. If you are interested in joining the choir please con- tact Bruce Gerrow. The Support Group will meet on Friday, Feb. 7 at 9:30 p.m. at the church. A fun evening of square dancing is planned on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Island Hall. All ages are welcome. Fridays surprise assembly featured a bingo with junior students partnering with pri- mary students.This was an opportunity to help the young ones recognize numbers, social- ize and join in the fun. You wouldn't believe a gym full of boys and girls could be so silent until someone yelled bingo. Constable Fox and Mr. Bark brought the V.I.P. program to a close with a graduation program certificate. Primary floor hockey is played in the gym at noon hour on Wednesday and Friday. Seven teams participate. The captains are Crystal Currie, Public School seeks Corey Zerf, Lauren Stairs, Evan Ashenhurst, Ryan Rahm, Deborah Jehu and Lara Andres. They encourage good sports- manship and team work. On Feb. 4, 6, and 11 the stu- dents will be involved in cross grade groupings by division for multicultural folktale studies. A special guest, Mr. John Whitwolf will present native Canadian legends on Friday, Feb. 7 in the gym. The school community coun- cil would like to appoint three community representatives to it's local council. These people would assist the school in build- ing partnership with communi- ty members and help build lines of cooperation to enhance stu- dent learning. They have positions open for four community repre- sentatives. Community repre- sentatives are people who do not have children in the school. Parent representatives are par- ents who do have children in the school. Greenbank P.S. would welcome calls from anyone who is interested, Parent Reps or Community Reps. I would like to ask our com- munity if anyone has any left over wool, washable. The rea- son for my request is I have a friend who spends hours a day making afghans which she do- nates to nursing homes and handicapped citizens. Mrs. Spracklin buys the wool herself and is presently working on her 200th afghan which she will, as usual, donate where necessary. If anyone has any wool they are not using, or wool left over from a sweater, etc., please call me at 986-9440 and I will pick it up, or just leave it in our mailbox. Ross Carson to the congregation at the begin- ning of the church service on Sunday. He chose for his ser- mon "new and amazing" he spoke of having compassion and mercy for others and God's Holi- ness will prevail. During assem- bly time he spent a few minutes getting acquainted with the children by introducing one to another. He also conducted the installation of official board members. The congregation wishes Rev. Carson a long and successful ministry in our church. The choir sang "lead me on" accompanied by the organ- ist Muriel Jebson. The Seagrave U.C.W. will meet this Wednesday, Feb. b at 1 p.m. at the home of Jacqui Beamish. The roll call is name for favorite hymn with world loveinit.
