When the bus I was waiting for finally arrived the woman in front of me handed the driver a trans- fer. "Lady," he said, "this transfer is from yesterday." That tells you how long I have been waiting for this bus," she replied. This is my feelings about how long I have waited for spring to arrive this year. A delicious meal was served by the Kirk Guild mem- bers, which included salad, Irish Stew and potatoes and yummy assorted pies. Follow- ing the dinner many gathered upstairs for a sing song singing many of the favorite Irish tunes, led by Barb Porter. Later, downstairs Barb intro- duced our guest entertainers for the evening. We welcomed The Brandon family from Leaskdale, with three of the young people playing violins ac- companied by their mother on the piano. We were also favored with a lovely solo "Danny Boy." Peter Rosefield from Toronto entertained us with Irish folk songs and playing a drum and guitar. Special Edition Cloggers from Oshawa and area livened up the evening with their lively dance numbers. To conclude the evening, the performers taught a special dance with many of our own people participating which was fun for all, even those who didn't dance. It was nice to see friends from surrounding areas join with us for this fun evening. Euchre results are as follows: 10 tables were played at the eu- chre party Thursday night. La- dies first Joan Fleming, second Alice Armstrong. Men's first Ray Hodgson, second Hervie Paynter. Lone hands Marg Gall and Glen Porter. Share the Wealth Ray Hodgson and Lorne Crawford. Further details to follow. Longtime Caesarea resident Reg Renouf will be missed This past week we attended the funeral of Reg. Renouf in Port Perry. It was a sad thing for all of us who knew Reg. and remember his sense of humor. Stan Binns was rushed off to the hospital this past week. They kept him for a couple of days and sent him home. From all accounts he is comfortable in his own home. Best wishes to you Stan. : Doug Keeler has had a bad bout with kidney stones and had an operation. He is now back to work. Sunday, March 16 was my wife Eileen's birthday. As usual a great number of cards and let- ter arrived. Easter is less than two weeks away and have you made your family plans as yet? Don't forget to include that widow or widow- er whomis a member of the fam- ily in your get together. Joke of the Week: Several Caesarea Albert Putsey doctors were consulting one an- other on what to do with a pa- tient without realizing he was eavesdropping. Later his wife asked him what the doctors had decided. "I don't know" the man replied. "They used medical terms I didn't understand." They said something about finding out for sure at the au-' topsy, whatever that means. Saying of the Week: No man is a success in business unless he loves his work. Florence Shinn >
