Waiting and wondering is all Llewellyn Jones can do as an appeal over a Feb. 15 nomination vote is con- sidered by Progressive Conservative party officials. Mr. Jones said this weekend he is tired of waiting for the National Director of the P.C. party's decision on his chal- . lenge to the vote that saw him lose the nomination for the Durham riding by just one vote. "There's no news yet. I guess we're going to have to wait another week. They said they would make a decision over the next week," said the Scugog Point resident. "This is getting really frustrating. I just want to know what's going on and if there will be another vote or not." Mr. Jones believes he was on the wrong end of a tie-breaking vote at a meeting to decide who will represent Durham in the upcoming federal elec- tion. School, Mr. Jones and his opponent Sam Cureatz were tied at 191 votes apiece. After a recount was completed and the two sides were still deadlocked, a single tie-breaking vote was cast by chairman Roger Wilson, who backed Mr. Cureatz. After the nomination meeting Mr. Jones said that he didn't think that the right course of action had been taken. "I wish that wasn't the way the final deci- sion was made. I think that a second ballot should have been held to allow the people to vote again," said Mr. Jones. The high school teacher said that if his appeal is successful he will contin- ue to run for the Tory nomination. But if the party's ruling doesn't favor him, he might quit politics.
