The time changed bringing longer days. The Maple Syrup Festival at the Prentice Farm on Sunday enjoyed a beautiful day. Hope everyone took advantage of the great weather. The Hospital Ladies Auxiliary will be holding their Spring Fair (bazaar) on Saturday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at the Latcham Centre in Port Perry. There will be tables of crafts, baking, etc. Come out and enjoy a cup of tea. The Head U.C.W. are in the midst of preparing for their annual "Craft and Bake Sale" to be held on Saturday, May 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Scugog Island Hall. Watch for the balloons! Come and see silk ribbon embroidery demonstrat- ad, paper embossing, basketry, and have your fortune told. The Grace U.C.W. are plan- ning their hot luncheon to be held on Saturday, May 3 at 11:30 a.m. at Scugog Island United Church. Scugog Island United Church A fun evening of fellowship was enjoyed by many at the Island Hall on Friday. Special thanks to Everett and Bill Prentice for their fine instruc- tions and calling, and to Bob Prentice, Bob Cawker and Doug Barber for keeping us on time with toe tapping music. A good crowd came out on Saturday evening and enjoyed the Pastoral Charge Pot Luck Supper held at the Island Hall. Mariposa Elementary School is in its 25th year and is having a 25th anniversary celebration. All former students are invited to attend on May 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the school. Sympathy of the community is extended to Judy and Bob Anderson and family in the sudden death last Friday of Judy's mom, Olive Meisenheimer. She passed away at her daughter's home where she has lived for several years. Many friends and family of Mabel Hurst gathered at the home of her grandson John to 25th anniversary Seagrave by Ann Sandiford § Li and Sherri Foote in Seagrave on Sunday evening to honor her at a belated 90th birthday open house. Doug Barber has offered to share a piece of music with us that deals with the eternal questions of life and death and life after death. He feels that hearing this music will be a very spiritual experi- ence. Gustav Mahler's Resurrection Symphony lasts about 80 minutes. We will listen to it in sections with time between the sections for expla- nations and reflection. The Congregation Meeting will be held on Monday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. Girl Guides selling cookies The Covenanting Service for the Rev. Ross Carson on the Greenbank Pastoral Charge by Lindsay Presbytry was held on Sunday evening in the Greenbank Church. The speaker was the Rev. Bruce Roffey of Aurora United Church. Music was provided by a group choir of Seagrave, Pinedale and Greenbank. The Fidelis Unit of the U.C.W. met on Wednesday at the church. Plans were made for the spring luncheon at Greenbank Church on April 30 at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 and can be cbtained from U.C.W. members. The Girl Guides are having their Cookie Blitz in Greenbank Village on Saturday, April 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. They are $3 a box - choco- late and vanilla.
