This day will be marked as a special retirement send-off for the Vazes be- ginning at 3 p.m. and also a chance for the communi- ty to welcome the new owners, Blair and Ron Martyn along with their families from Blackstock. Ellen Martyn feels that Saturday will be a great opportunity for neigh- bours and friends to come out and thank the Vazes for all they've done for the community in the past 19 years. "We hope to see every- one come out to the 'pass- ing of the flags' ceremony to thank Jack and Maria for all their contributions toour area," she said. "The Vazes will always be remembered for their great smiles as they greet- ed a customer." There will be a brief "cutting of the hose" cere- mony, along with a cake and refreshments says Mrs. Martyn. "(Scugog Mayor) Ho- ward Hall and other local politicians have been in- vited to come out and help the flags of the All Flags exchange hands," she said. Mrs. Martyn says her family wants to keep the business family operated like the previous owners. "Blair and Ron also see this as a family operation. Both brothers are looking forward to meeting and serving the local people," she said. The Vazes' son John will stay on as the licensed me- chanic rather than start- ing over in a new location says Mrs. Martyn. Mr and Mrs Vaz have al- ready started planning for many years of retirement that lay ahead says Mrs. Martyn.
