That's right: We're putting out the call now for your sub- missions to the Star's Third Annual Photo Contest. We've got cash prizes of $100 for the winning entries in each of three categories: People, Places and Pets. The contest -- which has gained in popularity since its inaugural run a couple of years ago -- 1s open as of now to ama- teur photographers. We want your best print photos, and we'll DAG. Stren accept them at the Star office in Port Perry until 5 p.m. June 13. Please be sure to affix your name, address and phone num- ber of the back of each print; contestants are allowed to sub- mit one photo in each of the categories. There is no restric- tion on the dimensions of the prints you can enter. We'll print the winning pho- tographs, as well as the run- ners-up in each of the cate- gories, in the Port Perry Star in July. In addition, we'll use some of the very best submissions as the Photograph of the Week each Friday in the Weekend Star in the weeks and months following the contest. Following are the rules for this year's contest: 0 Submissions will be accept- ed at the Port Perry Star office -- 181 Mary St., L9L 1B7 -- either by hand or mail from May 2 until Friday, June 13 at 5 p.m. Late entries will be dis- qualified. a The competition is open to amateur photographers -- those who do not depend on photog- raphy as their main source of income. 0 Entries are to be print pho- tographs, either color or black and white, and are subject to judging in one of three cate- gories: People, Places, and Pets. a Contestants may enter one photo per category. a Entrants agree that their photos may be printed by the Port Perry Star, either as win- ning submissions or as feature photos in the Weekend Star. Q Prizes will be $100 for the winning photograph in each of the subject categories. Honeydale W.l. plans for Annual By Mary Cannon Honeydale Institute held their meeting on Thursday, May 1. New president Madeline Ar- nott ably chaired the meeting. Roll Call was "Ways to Publicize the Women's Institute." Six- teen members replied giv- ing their suggestions. Minutes of the April meet- ing were read by Jean Car- nahan and accepted as read. Treasurer Mary Van Hamm gave her report showing a favorable bal- ance. Plans are going ahead for our District Annual on Thursday, May 22 at the Latcham Centre. The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the W.I. will be celebrated and the convention to be held in Hamilton in June. After business matters were taken care of the meeting was turned over to the P.R. Committee. Motto was "In the heart of the club is the promise of spring."
