The handiwork of the woodcarvers was on dis- play and they certainly had some fine pieces in this exhibition. They are a talented group and are a credit to our club. Any of our members is welcome to join them on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. Quilters are needed to assist the ladies at the same time on Wednesdays, all at the Latcham Centre. Our meeting ended with refreshments and a social time. Our next meet- ing on May 28 includes a pot luck dinner and starts at 5 p.m. Crime Stoppers Ajax theft Is probed by police Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police are asking for your help in solving a robbery that oc- curred in Pickering on Nov. 13 of last year. Around 9:40 p.m. the victim was entering her vehicle in the rear parking lot at 386 Kingston Road. A male riding a bicycle ap- proached the victim armed with a six inch knife. Demanding cash, he pulled his sweater up par- tially covering his face. The woman clutched her purse as she was pulled from her vehicle in an at- tempt by the suspect to rob her of its contents. Manag- ing to grab some personal effects, the culprit fled the area westbound on his bi- cycle. The woman was not injured in the attack. The suspect is described as male, white, 18 to 22 years of age, brown hair, light moustache, medium build wearing black pants and jacket, white turtle neck sweater and a black toque with a white stripe. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward for any in- formation that leads to an arrest in this incident. Callers never have to give their name or testify in court.
