| Focus on Contractor 18- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 1, 1997 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" tips on agenda The Scugog Chapter of the Kawartha Fisheries Association will hold its next meeting Thursday (July 3) at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Port Perry. The meeting will feature a demonstration and discus- sion on downriggers, release, and equipment. How downriggers can be used successfully for warm-water species such as walleye and muskie on lake types such as those found in the Kawarthas will be the primary focus. Participants will gain an understanding of the various types and styles of releases available, and which is best as KFA meets for different species. If interest warrants, some discus- sions of cold-water species will also be included. : Proper set-up of rods and reels for use with downrig- gers will be reviewed, as well as safety considerations, and maintenance techniques. Tackle selection for a vari- 'ety of species will also be covered. Also on the agenda is an update on the progress of the shoreline mapping project, and final results from wall- eye spawning site studies, conducted in late spring in partnership with the Port Perry BassMasters. A discus- sion of the ongoing garbage problem on the causeway is also on the agenda for this evening.
