PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 22, 1997-35 ~ Beacock descen "Seventy-one descendants of Abraham and Harriet (Akitt) Beacock gathered at Nestleton Hall on Saturday, July 12, a beautiful summer day, for their 70th Beacock Reunion. "Kelly Voutt registered people as they arrived and presented them with a sou- venir pen. Decorations of royal blue and yellow added to the festive feeling. Displays of family pictures and memora- bilia and hobbies were set up for viewing. Of special interest was the Beacock quilt, made of blocks stitched by various members and put together by Carol Nicholson. Glen Goslin brought his com- puter, on which he has. entered the Harriet Branch. President Joan Hartwick called the group together and Grant Ferguson led 71 attend get-together in Blackstock in singing the grace for the noon potluck meal. Joan, with Maryllis Dongelmans, vice-president; Helen Voutt, secretary and Marion Mew, treasurer, conducted the business meeting. ; Colleen Arbuckle took the children outside for sports. Don Beacock pronounced grace for the evening meal, a beef barbecue provided by the Yellowlees family. After supper Joan Hartwick presented table prizes each one of which was supplemented by a Beacock mug.
