Police say that sometime between 5:30 and 9:15 a.m. thieves broke into Ken Luke's Excavating on Reach Industrial Park Drive. Durham Police say the thieves pulled the lock off the main gate with a vehicle because amber lens debris was found in the area. The thieves then forced the lock off a workshop door and then broke a window to gain access into another workshop, eventu- ally breaking a lock on a lock in the main workshop to escape, say police. Various types of equipment were stolen in the break-in including a John Deere pres- sure washer; Makita impact gun; a seven- inch and four-inch Makita hand grinders; a Stihl chainsaw; and a assortment of three- quarter inch impact sockets. Police are also investigating a theft from an area trailer park which netted thieves two personal water craft. Police say that sometime on Aug. 3 two Seadoos were stolen from a rented slip at Goreski's Trailer Park on Scugog Island. The two water craft were tied and cabled to the slip, but both were cut by the thieves. Areport from a Brunon Ave. cottage own- er on Aug. 8 alerted police to a watercraft found floating on Lake Scugog with no one aboard. Upon recovering the vehicle, police traced the ownership to a Whitby resident who positively identified the returned Seadot and stated that there should be two at Goreski"s, say police.
