But vandalism appears to be something that's become a fact of life in sdciety today, and with it comes a hefty price tag and a lot of frustration for those on the receiving end of the senseless crime. | Such was the case last week when Elgin Knopp arrived at his premises near Water and Scugog St. to find some mindless jerk had | ~ sprayed paint over the walls and equipment of the soon to open Dairy Queen restaurant. ~ The act not only set back the opening of the restaurant and delayed pay cheques for about 30 new employees, but it also exacted an 'estimated $2,000 in expense to the owners of the building. at So, the sense of frustration felt by Mr. Knopp and the owners of the new franchise is quite understandable. Bored kids hanging around the streets late at night in groups often end up trying to creaté some excitement when they have nothing to do. In Port Perry, all too often we see youngsters out well past dark unsupervised, and it makes us wonder if some of their parents really know or care where their children are at night and what they're doing.
