If you see this Great Lady ILEAN on November 29 wish her a special Happy Birthday -------------------------------- Served as a volunteer firefighter for 35 years Township, friends honor Bill Harrison More than 100 friends gathered at the Latcham Centre last Friday night for a banquet to honor Deputy Chief Bill Harrison, one of Scugog's longest serv- ing, and most respected firefighters. Guests included politicians, represen- tatives of the Fire Marshall's Office and members of both Scugog and Uxbridge fire departments. In one of his final official duties as mayor, Howard Hall praised Mr. Harrison for his 35 years with the fire department and presented him a plaque and gift from the township. Other presentations included letters of congratulations from Prime Minister | Jean Chretein, Premier Mike Harris, MP Alex Shepherd, MPP John O'Toole; and gifts from the Ontario Fire Marshalls office, Marilyn Pearce representing Durham Region, Uxbridge Fire Chief Tony Peck, Scugog Chief Richard Miller and members of the local department. Mayor elect Doug Moffatt, chairman of the fire committee, presented Mr. Harrison with a gold helmet. Mr. Harrison noted that he had served under six fire chiefs during his years on the force and proudly exclaimed he felt the Scugog department was one of the best small brigades in Ontario. In his parting words, he praised his wife Annabell, who he said was every bit as dedicated to the department as he had =).
