Tuesday, December 23, 1997 CHRISTMAS GREETINGS ISSUE THE PORT PERRY STAR - I5 Lawn and Matt's Christmas Once upon a time there lived a little girl named Liza who lived with her Mother, father and her two big brothers. Their names are Matthew and Lawn. Lisa is 8, Matthew is 11 and Lawn is 15. It's almost Christmas and Lawn and Father have gone to get a Christmas tree. They make popcorn and cranberry strings, cookies, wool puffs, candles and toffee. For Christmas dinner they have goose, carrots, potatoes, roast beef and gravy. For dessert they get pudding, taffy and raspberries. After dinner they play with their toys and go outside. Liza was making snow angels. Then Lawn came along and wrecked it. It had foot prints all over it. Then it was time to go on a sleigh ride. They went to their church and sang Christmas carols. After they sang they went home to sleep. By Karen Dunkerley, S.A. Cawker A Pioneer Note Dear Cousin Justin, My trip to Upper Canada has been a long trip. We have been just barely surviving as our food supply is low. We have one week to go. It is long and boring. I have been hearing so many stories about Upper Canada. When we get there we shall have a nice Christmas. I hope to get some blocks. Our tree is going to be the best. I hope we get a goose for dinner. The tree will have popcorn strings, cookies, candles and hand made ornaments on it. Christmas is the best time of the year. I hope Saint Nick comes. I got Mother a thimble. Keep it a secret. Your cousin, Joey Barter, S.A. Cawker We hope the holidays are chock-full of wonderful surprises for your family! We look forward ro serving you in 1997!
